Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

[ Tuesday morning comes to New Rapture cold and quiet. The birds do not sing, because there are no birds. The sun does not shine, because there is no sun. All there is to indicate the warmth of day is the click and hum of fluorescent lights and neon. It is into this morning that the same pleasant female voice, unheard since the first day, speaks. ]

Please make your way to the meeting room on Floor 2 in twenty minutes. Attendance is mandatory. Thank you, citizens.

[ Upon arrival into the room, the screen walls are lit with dozens of images of Mayor Fontaine’s silhouette. Eleanor stands at the ready in the corner, gaze slightly vacant as she looks out at the lot of you. The glass wall has been set back to a mirror, reflecting the citizens of New Rapture and the screens as all twenty-five file in.

And when the last citizen has entered, the door closes behind them. ]

I think we may have gotten off on the wrong foot, citizens. See, I haven’t been sure how to handle you, and I think that may have confused you. You’re all awfully complacent, y’see. Relaxing in the garden. Sleeping in the library. I’ve never been a family man, but I’m afraid I may have spoiled the child, as it were. So here’s the rod.

I thought of a lot of ways to do this. Give Eleanor some envelopes to hand out, give you some recordings, some personal items… but plagiarism ain’t the way to play this. No expense spared for my honored guests. Eleanor, dear, if you’d be so kind.

[ Eleanor nods and withdraws a small remote from… some pocket on her diving outfit, and hits a button. It’s then that your motive becomes clear.

The glass of the mirror shifts, becoming clear, and the room beyond is distinctly different from before. Standing around inside are 25 other people - specially selected to be the ones you’d hate most to see here. They’re milling about, talking amongst each other, and… will not react to anything on this side of the glass. ]

So, here’s your test to see if you’ve got what it takes to make it in the big city. Kill someone by Friday and I let them all go home free. No harm, no foul. But if you don’t, well… I’ll open one of the other hotels up across the city for ‘em juuuust like this one, if you catch my drift.

PUNISHMENT

[ Sunday morning comes peacefully, something you will not be able to say, perhaps, for the next several Sundays. One of the strange things about life in New Rapture is, of course, the lack of birdsong. Or insects. Or the sun, really, but still. There are expectations of you. Where you go and don't go. Where you sleep and don't sleep.

And Mayor Fontaine expects you to follow them. He doesn't ask for much, really.

To most of you, the morning comes with an announcement. ]

Good morning, New Rapture. Listen up. This is a reminder to please sleep in your own goddamn rooms. Don't be like Dracula's Killer Friend. The library is no place to catch Zs.

[ And, in fact, it's apparent to Suite 1 especially that Jonathan Harker is not with you.

But that doesn't explain where he is, does it?

Jonathan, however, is going to find out upon waking exactly what happened to Jonathan, on account of being Jonathan. It was a wild and crazy late night in the new library, he got overwhelmed. This is reasonable. But then he decided not to try making it back to his room before falling asleep, and that seems to have been a mistake.

Jonathan wakes up, and there are a few things to note about his surroundings. Firstly, he's in a large, completely empty room that he's never seen before. There's a small bathroom space in the corner and, notably? No doors of any kind. Just one wall along the south side that appears to be a thick glass window, with the meeting room on the other side. Several screens in the meeting room begin to count down the seconds from 05:59:59.

Mayor Fontaine's voice comes over the intercom, just to this room. ]

Next time bring the books back up the elevator before you pass out and we won't have this problem.

[ It is then replaced by a low hum, not enough to drown noises out, but enough to make sleeping through the next six hours next to impossible.

But hey, at least anyone in the Meeting Room can see and talk to him. ]

[ ooc: point of order! if your character wants to interact with jonathan, there'll be a space for it! use this comment itself just to react to the punishment/announcement. ]

[ Bursting out of his room in his stupid little spare outfit: ]

We have a library?

[ LOOK...... ]

[ Time flies, doesn't it? Well, as well as it can in a place like this without a natural sun, though the light timers are a nice touch. Seo Dawon has been keeping himself busy, though depending on the day that's more observing than loudly being himself like during the tea party.

The new floor is the perfect opportunity to spend the day exploring, and you might spot him in the meeting room standing in front of the mirror like he's about to give a presentation. Honestly, he looks like he belongs here. And apparently, it's where Jonathan belongs too. He'll be giving his suite mate a very friendly wave and Hello! This is probably the company Jonathan wanted, right? Later he can be found in the library skimming and investigating the books, though it's very much that and not proper reading. Given the cassettes found last week, he's pretty sure there are more discoveries to be had in New Rapture.

Finally late at night, and we're talking night owl territory so from midnight onward, no matter where you are outside the suites, you might get the feeling you're being followed. The dimmed lights probably don't help. Regardless of whether your reaction is to confront, or run away from your pursuer, a second later a pair of bright red eyes pop out from behind the corner, or other object in the vicinity. ]

Boo!

It's pretty new.

[ He has been meaning to check it out himself, so this is the perfect opportunity! ]

Eh?

[ Undertaker's in suite 2, he doesn't notice anything off other than Fontaine's voice waking everyone up. ]

Now what was that about?

[ Whatever it is, he probably won't need to pretend he's asleep somewhere to find out what happens... Ah, but someone here wouldn't have seen who punished them, would they? Hm... ]

Meeting Room

[Jonathan had spent quite a bit of time attempting to keep himself from having a meltdown in his isolation chamber since he woke up. This was an overly familiar situation for him, and one that he hoped he would not have to deal with again.

... Aaand Seo's here. Great. He gives a halfhearted wave back.]

I was certain I would just be woken up and told to go back to my room. What sort of monster would lock someone up for falling asleep in the wrong place?

[Not even Dracula did that!]

Gay Baby Jail time

[Jonathan wakes up with a start, and immediately panic strikes his heart as he realizes that he had been locked in a room while he was asleep, with no exits whatsoever.

He wastes no time banging on the glass with his fist, practically screaming for help. Sure, he had experienced this situation before, but the prior time only showed him how horrifying it was to be locked up in a single room.

Eventually he somewhat calms down as he hopes that he will be let out once the six hours are up, but he finds himself curled up next to the giant glass pane, moping to himself about his situation.

Yeah he might need some company.]

[Walks into meeting room.

Sees Jonathan.

Walks out of meeting room.

Returns ten minutes later with popcorn (insert high class fancy snackage here)]

Eventually...

[ Tap.

Tap tap tap.

Tap tap tap tap tap.

That is the sound of the Undertaker tapping on the window to get mopey boi's attention. Like he was annoying a goldfish in a bowl. ]

A-at least show some sympathy towards my plight! Surely you can try to help me out of this prison!

I suppose I did slumber through most of yesterday. Still... bit disconcerting.

[He hugs his legs a little closer.]

Good afternoon, sir.

[He's not entirely sure if it's the afternoon, but it feels like it must be at this point.

Man.

[Dandy is just peering with disapproval at Jonathan through the wall of containment...]

They had to go and pick the worst possible candidate for a [glass] cage dance in here, huh?

Can you hear us in there, bud?

[giddyundertaker]

[ Huh? He was expecting a more annoyed reaction than that...

The tapping stops and he sits down next to poor Harker. ]

How long have you been in there, now?

[hotpaprika]

[The panic is stark in his eyes, and his knuckles are already starting to look raw from banging his fists on the glass.

However...]

A cage dance...?

[He nods in response.]

Y... yes. Thank God I can hear you.

[hotpaprika]

[Jonathan is just too worn down to be annoyed. The familiarity of this situation just put himself in a state of helplessness.

He looks at the clock.]

About four hours now. Assuming that the Mayor does not have any further punishments for me, I suppose I have two hours to go.

[fuckingguy]

[ ah, shades of visiting CHARACTER NAME REDACTED in the cage in the basement... ]

So, ah, the meeting is definitely in the evening now. [ ... ] How are you holding up?

[dullshooter]

[Because he's the guy who sucks, next question.]

Ehhh. [He makes a non-committal hand gesture.] That glass looks pretty thick, and this is the closest thing to TV there is...

[He takes a bite out of whatever the hell he's got here. He can't even digest it. It's just something to do.]

At least I'm keeping you company?

I'd take the time to explain it to ya, but you seem spooked enough as it is.

[Dandy places his palm on the glass, grinning at the poor captive from the other side. The shit-eating expression on the alien hunter's face, surprisingly enough, is one he's sporting in hopes of comforting the other man.

Dandy suddenly catches sight of those red fists, keeping cool whilst he continues to speak.]

Whoa! Okay, tiger, first thing's first- Leave the wall bangin' to the folks on the outside! There's a crapton of us and only one of you, right?

So, relaaax! Or, welp- Maybe just stop hittin' stuff.
