Week 3
Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.
It's a strange sort of feeling, waking up on Sunday. Not the least because, well... you fell asleep on Friday, didn't you? Whether you sleep or not, none of you remember Saturday. Everything, by all accounts, seems to be Sunday. Weird.
It's not all bizarre feelings of lost time that you have to show for your efforts, though - it seems that another wing of New Rapture is ready for you. Perhaps there's more information to be found about your situation there... and maybe more about the history of this place, if that interests you.
There are still 23 of you left... Keep getting to know them. There's regains to get, after all!

[ That's 3... No, 4 housemates and the ghost of one of the housemates... So many people to share living quarters with. ]
Hold on, how is Nadja and her ghost able to exist in the same house? I thought you told me vampires don't count as undead.

[ He continues to talk with his hands as he continues. ]
When a human dies, their spirit leaves their body — also it sticks around if it has unfinished business of some kind, which is how we met our ghosts, but that is beside the point. Now, when you become a vampire, you die and your spirit leaves, only instead of rotting away into the earth your body rises from the grave. Then you drink some blood, complete the dark transition, endure for eternity as a creature of the night, yadda yadda. So you are still the same person, you did not go anywhere and then come back, your soul is just not there anymore. And that is what I was telling to you.

Uh huh... I know exactly what you mean by the soul leaving the body.
[ He idly taps his fingers on the table to the music as he explains. ]
See, when I was still an active grim reaper, my job was to go out and make sure the souls of the dying left their bodies before anything else got to them first. Of course, I'd have to review the dead person's cinematic record to be sure they weren't beneficial to society in some significant way, but it was just a matter of severing the record from the body and soul at the appointed time...
[ He pauses a moment. ]
I wonder if vampires could exist in my world under that system?
[ They probably don't. Yet. ]

[ He's having real trouble picturing this! Which is probably for the best, because if he got "cinematic record" he'd just assume the Undertaker was also making documentaries. ]

Weeeell... How do I put this?
Imagine a strip of images, many images lined up to create a moving picture. Now picture that moving picture sprouting forth from a dying human the moment they are pierced with a reaper's death scythe. That is how we alone can see every moment in that particular human's life, before we collect that soul by severing the strip.
Does that make more sense?
