Week 4

Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

Sunday arrives ahead of schedule again, bringing with it the creeping dread that this is just how this is going to go. Welcome to the murdergame cycle.

At least there's another section of the city available to you! This one even has some things to do without you having to make your own fun. Which also means there's more to find about this place.

There's still over 20 of you alive... maybe that's something to celebrate? It could be worse! But... at least one of you is an attempted killer, apparently. Either way, better keep talking if you want regains!

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to the fourth week of Unknown Seas Round 3! Please make sure to mark any investigation toplevels accordingly, post your ac, and you can reach either Mayor Fontaine or Eleanor for conversations! ]

[Well, hello there- ]

Oh! Seo Dawon, do you recognize something?

[His gaze follows Seo Dawon's line of sight, and it's very "oh, I see."]

Is that yours, or...?

It's mine. [ For such a short sentence it's said particularly heavy. The next second he's moving to take the crystal without asking, it spinning like a very pointy top on his palm. ]

This is...well, this is a curse so you shouldn't keep it.

Oh...!

[Oh god, yes, by all means, take it.]

I don't have experience with anything that looks...quite like that, but if you say it's a curse I certainly believe you.

[ He doesn't quite relax but he's no longer as rigid once it's clear Forrest isn't going to fight him on it. ]

You're a healer, right? You'd actually be the best suited to handle it, besides me. Holy trumps dark elements, or at least it should.

Is that so...? We've never divided up our abilities in quite that way, but I suppose I can see that.

[Or at least, it's never really been called that? Probably because he's not a cleric and so his powers aren't dependent on any sort of god.]

It's impossible to know for certain in a place like this, but it's still fairly likely. Do you not divide your skills into elements?

[ 95% of the time when someone mentions healer it means a priest, so it's just kind of an automatic assumption on his part. ]

Not particularly...? I'm a healer, but I serve as a dark mage as well. We can cast whatever element we want as long as we have a tome and training for it.

Oh? Then it looks like I was correct but maybe for the wrong reasons. Mages can use any elements, but dark and holy magic is restricted—they're generally for those who worship Gods or the lack of them, really.

[ He shifts his attention back to the crystal momentarily. ]

This is more properly...blood magic, or at the very least necromancy. Though things like this shouldn't really exist at all.

Necromancy...

[It's something he's heard of, vaguely, but nothing he's ever thought to try; it's nothing he really ever wanted to try, and some part of him still believes it to be a myth, something brought over from other lands.]

Might I ask in what way? I thought that was for the reanimating of corpses.

[ A beat. ]

Most spells need a catalyst, and necromancy isn't an exception. Reviving the dead takes more than just mana. [ He smiles, just a bit. ]

To be clear, I am a mage not a necromancer. But I am currently partied with one, or was before I came here. There aren't a lot of necromancers and they're generally considered a garbage class and profession. The standard necromancer spells function by way of a weak skeleton familiar, and not any actual raising the dead.

I see... All I really know about them is what I've been told, granted, and those were all stories. I never really thought such a thing was a real profession.

[I mean, there are still differences between worlds to consider, but that's not the point.]

Do they raise the dead, though? Even if it's nonstandard.

...as ridiculous as it seems? They do.

I wasn't just talking to Jonathan at the seance because I enjoy his company, you know. You can say I've picked up a few things about necromancy from my time with Choi Lee-kyung.
