WEEK 3

Well, the tail end of Week 2 could have gone better. That's the first thing to note.

The second thing is... hang on, should it be Week 3 yet? You've all gone to sleep (or... not, in the case of anyone who doesn't), but when you wake up (and you do all wake up), the calendar and clock on your device informs you that it's Sunday. In-character, all characters explicitly have absolutely no memory of Saturday.

Your sense of time isn't the only thing that's changed - a new branch of the facility has opened and become active overnight, giving you new resources and places to investigate, should you so choose. There's also a new channel on the television, though whether it's an improvement over the last one is questionable.

Otherwise, though, things have mostly settled into normalcy again, or at close to normal as you can find in this place. How long that peace will last, though... that's becoming increasingly uncertain, moving forward.

[ On Thursday, Alice spends the majority of the afternoon in the sewing room, bent over the sewing machine hard at work churning out what seems to be colorful strips of fabric. By late afternoon, she has them all laid out on the table, hand-stitching them into bowties, dark eyes laser-focused on her work. There are twenty-two in all, each of them with a fabric chosen to best suit the intended recipient. Some were based on her own knowledge of the person, or what she thinks would look best on them. Some, the ones for people she hasn't spoken to, are based on the information in their profiles, or what she's noticed of them.

Either way, Thursday evening is spent taping each bowtie to its recipient's door with a handwritten note:

Thought you could use a pick me up. Here's a little something fancy to spice up your tuxedo.

Well, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity. Anyway, this is great! I can make clothes! Oh, I'm so excited.

[ Thursday finds Mira-- well, she ain't doing great lads, but she sure is trying. She's probably just stressed because it's Thursday, and after what happened last week...

Ugh. Whatever. She's dealing with it, kind of sort of. She retreats to the sewing room, intending to work on something, when she happens upon Alice. ]

Oh-- Hello.

[ That brings her back. And it's like she hasn't quite realized just what she said, or- or maybe that she started to drift there. With a blink of her eyes, she's focused again. ]

Oh. Oh, yeah, of course! [ It would sound forced, on most other people. ] We'll figure all this out, and... Oh, it'd be nice to avoid another day like today.

At this rate, I can't be shocked about anything anymore... Anna told me about the worms, at least. Do you mind if I look through?

[Alice hears Mira before she speaks, but waits until she says hi to turn and smile, eyes bright.]

Mira! Hey, how are you?

[She pushes her work behind her to hide it, casually.]

Oh, I'm sure it's highly scientific.

[ She could be better, but she's like. Not going to admit that, nope! ]

I'm alright. [ She tilts her head just a little. ] Working on something secret?

A little variety around here might be pretty good. [ And it's something to get her mind off...you know. All this. ]

Definitely. I don't think anyone's going to try to go after his assistant again after today, at least. Not while knowing about...all of that.

Well... I figured it was either yours or Seteth's. Um, I did read a little bit of it, but once I saw "Seiros," I didn't think it was for my eyes.

[ There's a small squint at the double take, which quickly disappates. Boy, you have no idea. ]

Yeah, you could say that. Hard to find anyone that's really had any great experiences with most religions, it seems. [ beat ] No offense.

I thought that might have been the case... as I said, it is the scripture where I learned of the Chalice of Beginnings.

Well... whatever it is, I look forward to seeing it, [ she says, as she searches through the bolts of fabric. ] I think a lot of us could use a nice surprise.

You know, when I popped those coins in, one of the times it just threw up a bunch of salt water. Is that normal? I mean, has that happened to you? Like, what? The sand was one thing, but...

[ As she puts down the non-descript duck award, she turns and trails off. ]
