Fourth Investigation

It's hard to tell that - of if - the motive has passed. The radios are the same, there are no missing powers, the day begins like any other. But there's something heavy hanging over you, the knowledge that, well... it's Friday. And unpleasant things happen in New Rapture on Fridays.

While we would love to say it's remotely quiet and peaceful, we can't. Helios Suites and the grounds around them are body-free, at least, but... there's a series of booming noises coming from somewhere else in New Rapture, echoing through the empty halls.

Looks like the game is afoot, citizens.

[ Off like blood bag blood, or off like "not human" blood? Just... just asking before he has to lick a crime scene....... ]

[ He absolutely would rather not!! But yes, he is looking around for some blood, and he is going to do what must be done. ]

[ It's sort of everywhere around Dandy's body, particularly around his torso...though! If you don't want to just, uh...scoop some up while everyone's investigating his body, you'll have noticed some before, about midway down the track. That also comes with a bit more evidence! ]

[ Honestly, it would be way less disgusting to just take it from the source, but he feels like Jonathan in particular would not react well to him just dabbing blood off a corpse! Let's double back and check out the blood that's furthest away from everybody else. ]

[ Firstly, the splatter of blood's near a carving in the wall, which looks to be just under the water level. In crude writing, it reads: ]

Is this carved into concrete, or is the wall some other material? Also, is there any particular shape to the blood splatter? ]

[ The wall's concrete!

Nandor's a guy who's familiar with blood and the way it exits the body, so! He can tell this is a projected flow pattern, made with some force but also due to the influence of gravity or some other object. There's not any particular shape to it. ]

can you cw for something just being gross as hell because—

[ He will not be able to use these words and will probably resort to miming it out disgustingly for everyone to understand what he means at the trial, but boy oh boy, he sure does!! And now... it is time... to indirectly lick the floor (or lower wall, whatever) of an amusement park ride via touching his finger to it and then tasting his fingertip. ]

For the sake of not subjecting everybody to endless emeto warnings or Exorcist style puking on the crime scene, he is going to absolutely fucking book it to the exit of the dark ride, just barely make it out, and really do what must be done in the general direction of the roller coaster.

After that's over and done with, is he going to feel like, say, there was anything altering Dandy's system at the time of death and it's carried over? Or just the normal symptoms of eating or drinking non-blood? ]

[ The latter. It tastes like metal, but not coppery. Just like you're eating straight fucking metal. ]

[ Anyway, uh, time to go back inside and awkwardly start poking around like nothing happened! Is there anything else of note in here to find, or should he focus on the Jonathan situation? ]

[ Quite a bit, actually, though not where you were looking before. You'll have to go past the body situation, or just enter from the exit to find some more evidence. ]

[ If he enters through the exit, the chances of him having to explain what just happened to him are significantly lower, so that's exactly what he'll do! What's up in there? ]

[ Hey Nandor... Do you like more blood? Because we've got more blood! It's smeared on the left wall, towards the exit. You'll have to backtrack to find where it starts...but along the way you'll find our remaining evidence in the area! ]

[ Not if it's Dandy's fucked-up metal blood he doesn't!! Side question: is it Dandy's fucked up metal blood? He's going to follow the path anyway, but. ]

[ He'll be able to tell by smell, it sure is. Additionally, it's at about... oh, a little louder than Nandor's shoulder? Not always a consistently straight line, but around that height.

As he makes his way back through the dark ride, what Nandor will come upon first is something he probably isn't too pleased to see. Prayer beads scattered along the edge of the track and into the scenery. If he's familiar... It looks like the ones that belonged to Hagakure. ]

[ Despite the fact that it turns out every negative reaction he's had was pure placebo effect, you'd better believe he's familiar and has been keeping close tabs on everyone's religious objects! So there's another grossed out "yeeee" as he steps over them.

How far from the Body Situation are the prayer beads? And does the blood smear continue past them, or has it already stopped before Nandor comes across them? ]

[ Wouldn't you know it? We've got a helpful diagram! With various things removed to prevent spoilers. The prayer beads are the tiny blue dot, and the body's well....the body.

The blood smear continues past all of this. ]

[ He's going to pause and turn around to scoop up a couple of prayer beads with even less enthusiasm than he had tasting the blood splatter (also, was that the green dot?), put them in his pocket, and keep following that smear! Is there anything to indicate what was doing the smearing? ]

[ Nothing you can tell. It looks vaguely hand-shaped? But you can't get a senses of how big, because it keeps varying in size.

Anyway, the green dot's where Rossiu found himself a knife, actually! That's fitting, because when you get to that reddish dot in the middle of the track? There's another knife. ]

Okay, and I am just gonna take that...

[ And he bends down to pick it up! Is it bloody or otherwise damaged? ]

[ Nope, not damaged, nor bloody. There's not much to note about the knife except it looks to be one from the vending machine.

Though, like, if you want more blood I can hook you up. At the center of the ride (or at the yellow X for the diagram) it smells like there's more of that metal blood. ]

Belatedly, was there any blood on Hagakure's beads? I am guessing not, but one must ask! ]
