Week 8

Good morning, New Rapture. The long night is ending.

Your number is as low as it's going to go. You may not know it for sure yet, but there's something in the cold New Rapture recycled air that suggests maybe things are about to change. An act of defiance against the Mayor actually panned out, and now... the mysteries of the underwater city are beginning to finally reveal themselves to you. How much has been just smoke and mirrors, like the execution room? How much has been real? And how much longer can your captor continue to avoid granting you answers?

No new wing of the city, this week. There are still offices to explore in city hall, if you'd like, but in general you get the feeling that it's going to take a change to make the next new information available. And make no mistake: change is coming, my friends. Stay strong. Stay together. Get any last coins in before the end.

[Oh! It's the weirdly attractive guy who eats children. Sure. No problem. He'll check out the desk first, because that seems like a fine pattern to follow.]

[ There's a couple pictures on his desk - namely of these two, though they are separate and more candid than this one.

His desk is full of drafts of recipes, painstakingly sourced and mix-and-matched from recipes in the wall of recipe books. ]

[Ah, a fellow dad. Admittedly based on the portrait he's not sure if he's... a Varis breed of dad...

hm. well, anyway, he might as well look through those recipes to see if there's anything interesting?]

[ He Is A Normal Father, Come Closer

Well, for one thing, there's recipes for everything at the hotel restaurant in here! So that's neat. ]

[Ah that explains it. It wasn't bad food at least although he feels like this guy would try to clothesline him for wanting to eat some nachos every once in a while. The operative word there is "try."

He'll investigate the cookbooks to see if there's any Hidden Notes or whatever!]

[ This Man Thinks Nachos Should Not Exist.

No secret notes, necessarily, but there is a ledger recording interdimensional food imports. Looks like he was at least in part in charge of ordering food for New Rapture, which would be brought in from other worlds monthly. ]

[Huh! Well, that's interesting. It's worth knowing that, at least! Maybe he'll check out the kitchenette, too!]

[ The kitchenette's pretty normal, not a lot to find! There's no food in it currently, which is perhaps for the best considering how long these rooms have been unoccupied. But you're good for this one! ]

[ This office is... whoever owned this office seems to have had two main passions. One the one hand: blades. There are knives and swords all over, mounted on boards or at rest against the wall and ready to go.

On the other hand? Theater. There are posters all over, all from The Count's Theater And Very Fine Dining, of various shows, all starring the same two people, a man and a woman you've seen before. Instead of a desk, she has a dressing room table, complete with mirror with bulbs around it. And in the back, between posters for her performances as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth and Marian in The Music Man is the portrait of this room's Founder. ]

[Yep! That sure is a person he recognizes, kind of. And those sure are a ton of knives! Let's, erm, look at that dressing room table, then, since it feels like the closest thing to a desk...]

[ There's not a lot of usual Desk Things here - some pens, a scattered stack of assorted complicated paperwork (none of which has been filled out or finished), a small picture of Count Olaf and Kronya breaking ground on the theater - but there are a couple things of note. First off is a few clippings of reviews of plays, which... praise her acting, but seem at a loss as to specific things about her acting to compliment? It's big "If I pan this political figure I will be blacklisted" energy, my guy, you're probably at least passingly familiar.

There's also a drawer, but it's just. There's just knives in there. Like five of them. ]

[it's probably pretty good that Solus himself never actually decided to take to the stage. that he knows of.

nah that's not true solus would completely rock the stage lmao it's great. anyway is there like. a closet to go through or something.]

[ There is! It's full of weird skimpy jrpg villain outfits and theatrical costumes. Why does she have these. What a dedicated student of the theater? ]
