Week 8

Good morning, New Rapture. The long night is ending.

Your number is as low as it's going to go. You may not know it for sure yet, but there's something in the cold New Rapture recycled air that suggests maybe things are about to change. An act of defiance against the Mayor actually panned out, and now... the mysteries of the underwater city are beginning to finally reveal themselves to you. How much has been just smoke and mirrors, like the execution room? How much has been real? And how much longer can your captor continue to avoid granting you answers?

No new wing of the city, this week. There are still offices to explore in city hall, if you'd like, but in general you get the feeling that it's going to take a change to make the next new information available. And make no mistake: change is coming, my friends. Stay strong. Stay together. Get any last coins in before the end.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to the final week of Unknown Seas Round 3! Please make sure to mark any investigation toplevels accordingly, reply to the endgame planning post, and you can reach either the Mayor or Eleanor for conversations! ]

Maybe. I'll have to, uh...ask Forrest about that whole thing.

[He's a little awkward about it. Brett's not...even sure he's angry at Forrest, at the end of the day? But that doesn't mean he feels great.]

Not that I'll be much help anyway, if it comes down to...

[He waves a hand vaguely in what's meant to be an approximation of "swinging battle axes and fighting guys".]
howveryglib: gaius looking off to the right... (please do not discuss the chicken thing.)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-02 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I am certain we will all be asking him about it when we see him... I simply do not wish to overwhelm him.

[HE IS VERY WORRIED ABOUT THE BOY...]

In any case, you do not have to be concerned. You have helped us get this far, so I am certain those of us who are combat-ready will protect you.

That's fair.

[He has been through a lot...maybe it is better to step off for a bit anyway. Brett thinks it's probably better he gets his own shit in order a little, too.

At that last, he just grimaces. Sure, he's a burden, don't rub it in.]
howveryglib: gaius looking kind of pensive, perhaps emo, perhaps sleepy, perhaps other emotions (i am in misery etc.)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-03 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
...come now. It is my job to lead and protect those who are unfamiliar with combat. I know I have not been doing the best job of it, but...

[personal profile] inaclearing 2022-08-03 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
...it's not your fault.

[a little hypocritical, but]

You can't just...expect one person to be responsible for managing all this.
howveryglib: sometimes you just want an icon of the lower half of the face!!! (ah yes... the jaw...)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-03 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I should have done more, at the very least. I did not even manage anything of particular risk beyond apprehending one culprit attempting to inflict further injury.

[personal profile] inaclearing 2022-08-03 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
That was really scary, though.

[like he'd be way more hecking traumatized by that if we weren't in Trauma: The Undersea Experience]
howveryglib: gaius unbehelmeted, with a pretty neutral expression. (i'm chuunibyou now.)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-03 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
…I am glad I managed to stop him in time, truly. But I was not alone in that, either.

...I started thinking maybe I should carry a knife or something after that. But then I thought...they'd probably just take it from me, and then they'd have a knife.

["They" is unclear, as always. Whoever might attack him, he supposes.]
howveryglib: gaius with a hand up to his chin, thinking deep thoughts (yeah... tacos sound great for dinner.)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-03 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I think those devices that emit just enough electricity to stun someone are a better investment on that front, truth be told. Particularly given that I believe there are fewer ways to accidentally kill an assailant with one than a knife.

[personal profile] inaclearing 2022-08-03 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I just never got one. I kept pulling the way more dangerous things instead. [..]. I...do have one now, though.

[It was Jonathan's and he picked it up next to his corpse but like........don't worry about it]

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-03 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
…it is a bit up to chance, that is true. At least there is that, though.
inaclearing: ([ larch ])

[personal profile] inaclearing 2022-08-03 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I don't know. Doubt it'll really come to that.

[He's pretty sure someone could get the drop on him, taser or no.]
howveryglib: gaius with a hand up to his chin, thinking deep thoughts (yeah... tacos sound great for dinner.)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-04 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I doubt it will come to that at this point, at the very least. It cannot hurt to be prepared, of course.

[..........]

You think Papyrus could use a sword?

[Then, as if this explains everything:]

That's the skeleton.
howveryglib: he's lookin' maybe a little bored. maybe. (i'd rather be driving a mech honestly)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-04 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
...I thought their name was Sans?

[he has no idea about the context.]

In any case, I... suppose you could, yes. Perhaps give them something non-lethal to see their capabilities before giving them an actual sword.
inaclearing: ([ arbor vitae ])

[personal profile] inaclearing 2022-08-04 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's Papyrus now.

[No further explanation forthcoming!]

That'd be pretty cool.
howveryglib: gaius with a hand up to his chin, thinking deep thoughts (yeah... tacos sound great for dinner.)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-04 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
...I see.

[no he doesn't.]

I do think it would be helpful if he is capable of using it properly...

[Brett just chuckles.]

What's he gonna do, stab himself?
howveryglib: gaius with a hand up to his chin, thinking deep thoughts (yeah... tacos sound great for dinner.)

[personal profile] howveryglib 2022-08-04 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
I am more concerned he might accidentally stab things that shouldn’t be stabbed rather than things that should.
