Another trial, another week, and still you're probably running lower on answers than you'd like. And on people - you lost three since last Sunday. By the end of this week, you'll have been here for nearly a full month, yet still the days crawl on.

You wake up Sunday, again with no memory of Saturday, but this time with a simple message on your devices: You may resume requesting items, if you like. Enjoy. Guess it really was just a stealth motive after all, but at least it's being communicated that it's over! That's something, at least.

And when you leave your rooms on Sunday, there's another new area to explore! This one is... certainly more ambitious in its construction than the last one, to say the least. But hey, you have a pretty neat place to host parties, if you feel so inclined! That's... fun...

[Mixing drinks is so complicated. He puts his chin in his hand, openly--well, openly for Therion--fascinated with what she's doing, tracking each surprising move.]

Arcade. That's what that's called, then. You play games to win prizes...

[That's worth consideration.]

So, like gambling.

Not too dissimilar, actually. But it's actually a bit less luck-based, and instead of playing for money, you get tickets that you typically exchange at a prize counter.

[ Once she has her lemon, she cuts it in half and juices it over the cup, before stirring with her spoon, just to make sure it's all mixed well... ]

It usually costs money to play the games, but it doesn't seem like you do at this one.

...Was it something you liked as a kid? Playing at these arcades.

My sister used to take me sometimes after school, if I got good grades or if I had all of my homework done. Sometimes there were kids who would have birthday parties there...

[ Once it's stirred up nice, just one more touch with some garnish tongs. A little cinnamon stick, and a tiny sprig of thyme... ]

Hang on, let me try this, so I know it's good...

[ She plops a little mixing straw in, and takes a little sip... ]

[ ...and she grins, like the Cheshire Cat. ]

Oh, you are gonna love this.

[ It's strong, but those flavors...he needs to try it for himself. ]

[Aelfric's Flame, she's really going all out on this fancy thing. Even with the barkeeps who like him, he's lucky if they bother to wipe the tankard down before they drop it in front of him. Her grin makes his eyebrows rise. For the first time in a while, he finds a smirking smile to offer.]

Heh. You say that. You going to let me try it or what?

[He sits up, holding out his hand for the cocktail.]

I will, but you better thank me by the time you finish it. This is gonna scratch the itch, mark my words.

[ Here, because she's so nice, she'll even slap it on a coaster for him-- ]

Hmm.

[Well, it passes the sniff test, at least. This might be a lot stronger than he's used to, actually. He'll have to be careful. He picks up the glass for a sip.]

[...

Well, he'll be damned.

It's amazing. Ema Skye continues to rock Therion's world. His eyes widen, and he pauses for a moment to better appreciate what all's going on here. Then he takes another drink of it, less tentative and exploratory than the first and more just. Damn. Color him impressed.]

...Not bad at all. [He lifts the glass to her, a note of respect.] If solving crime ever dries up for you, you could make quite a name for yourself in tavern-tending.

Oh, now you're just trying to butter me up for some reason. This is just how it's done where I'm from. If you were drinking something at an actual restaurant, it'd put mine to shame...

[ Though she is a little proud of how it came out, just from spitballing based on what would go good with the apple cider. Maybe she's got a little more of a knack for it than she thought...or maybe she's spent a little too much time watching the bar staff do their stuff at police department socials. ]

That cinnamon one I put in there might have a nice kick, but it's no joke. You might have to adjust your count a bit.

I can tell. Don't worry. I won't have more than the one.

[See? Responsible.]

Though I notice you're not drinking anything yourself, barkeep. Is it just that it's too early for you?

[ Alright, she's got her eye on you..! ]

I won't let you drink alone, don't worry. But I'll have something a little lighter than what you're having. I usually only drink when I'm at a big gathering, and even then, absolutely never anything too crazy.

[ Her drink is easy; a little bit of vodka, a spritz of lemon-lime soda, and a lime on the rim... ]

But maybe I'll make an exception, in special circumstances like this one.

...You don't have to on my account.

[He's not gonna stop her or anything, especially since she's already making herself a drink. But he's not here to peer pressure her or anything.]

I usually drink alone.

Hey now, that's all the more reason for me to join you now. To me, it doesn't taste good unless I have someone else around to share it with.

[ It's too late, Therion; before he's even got a chance to try and shoot her down, there's a drink in her hand and a grin across her face. She's holding it out in front of him, as though she's expecting a clink of their glasses. ]

And after a tough week like last one, I think it'll do us both some good.

[His expression flickers, both at her words and the offered glass. In the end, he does tap his drink to hers; in a way, giving in to the gesture might be more in line with his now-subdued mood than playing hard to get would be.]

Can't hurt, anyway. ...Here's to living another day.

[He closes his eyes as he drinks more of Ema's concoction, savoring the burn of good alcohol on its way down.]

To the start of a new week, and to working through any trials and tribulations that come with it, right?

[ She seems grateful that he's indulging her on this one; it doesn't seem like all that long ago that he made a face at her, the first time they clinked glasses like this. There's no doubt that things have escalated a fair bit in that short amount of time...but as he says, they're still here.

As good a reason to toast as any. Maybe even one of the better ones. ]

I'll look into cocktails that are a little less off-the-cuff for you, if you'd like. Unless, of course, you're that fond of the Skye Special?

...I have a soft spot for the apple flavor, I admit.

[It's the first thing listed under "likes" on his damned profile.]

Suppose I could taste-test for you if you want to branch out. But I wouldn't mind establishing this as "the usual" with you, since it seems this is the closest I'll get to the nearest tavern.

Then that's the start of one more professional relationship, right?

[ She's smirking to herself as she sips at her vodka soda. She's clearly having more fun teasing him than she probably should be... ]

I mean, a bartender needs regulars, you know...

[Laugh it up, Skye. Even if she is teasing him, he seems in somewhat better spirits than when she found him, and it's not all thanks to Fireball.]

Heh. Fine.

[She wins this round. (As if she hasn't won every round so far.)]

That's the kind of affiliation I can keep up for a while.
