WEEK 4

Another trial, another week, and still you're probably running lower on answers than you'd like. And on people - you lost three since last Sunday. By the end of this week, you'll have been here for nearly a full month, yet still the days crawl on.

You wake up Sunday, again with no memory of Saturday, but this time with a simple message on your devices: You may resume requesting items, if you like. Enjoy. Guess it really was just a stealth motive after all, but at least it's being communicated that it's over! That's something, at least.

And when you leave your rooms on Sunday, there's another new area to explore! This one is... certainly more ambitious in its construction than the last one, to say the least. But hey, you have a pretty neat place to host parties, if you feel so inclined! That's... fun...

Hey, you gotta find the fun in situations like this where you can! Silver linings, right?

Mm. I'm not sure how others feel about it, but.... personally, I couldn't not do something.

[ ... it occurs to her they haven't talked much before, so she's tentatively curious about Rin. ]

If we had somewhere nicer... a garden of some sorts, I'd have placed them there.

I doubt anyone can fault you for the thought, at least. But... If you're going to be sentimental about it anyway, I think they're fine where they are. That's the closest thing to a place that belongs to all of us, right?

You think so?

[ That seems to settle something for Mira, at least. ]

That was my thought--a place where people can place things, if they'd like. I do wish we had... flowers, or something.

[ But it still doesn't feel like enough. She won't mention that, though. ]

If that's what you want, those can be painted, too. You've seen those origami books that come out of the vending machine, right?

Oh, you're right. I hadn't considered that... I do have some paper I've gotten from it.

[ It's not perfect, but it's the best they've got. ]

[mouflon]

Yep. You can make them flowers, or anything else you want. What's important is that it carries the weight of your feelings.

Though, if you ask me, you're already doing plenty on that front.

[ She jerks her chin in the direction of the paintings. ]

... Well... I suppose you have a point.

[ The paintings are no small feat. But... ]

It's just-- if I don't do something, if I don't keep myself busy, I-- won't know what to do with myself. It's too easy to get into your own head when you have nothing to do.

[mouflon]

That's true. I'm not used to being so idle, either. Usually when something goes bad, there's more to do afterward, but in this place, it's the opposite.

[ Well, so far as productive things go, at least. New areas open up, but... ]

Passively biding your time is the worst.

[philoxenia]

It is.

[ She heaves out a sigh, leaning back in her chair. ]

After the first day or two, it gets old... especially with so much time on our hands.

[mouflon]

I'm just not wired for it. Usually, when my enemy hits me, the first thing I do is find a way to hit back. This is more like... Someone keeps hitting us while we sit with our hands tied behind our back.

[ Rin echoes that sigh, and takes a step toward the perimeter of the room. She's looking at the art supplies, taking stock of the paper. ]

I've never really thought about art, though. Usually I just run myself tired in the gym.

[philoxenia]

... We're certainly getting plenty of reminders of how powerless we are.

[ And she hates it! But she stands all the same. She needs to stretch her legs, and maybe not work on something that reminds her she lost someone she cares about again. ]

The gym isn't a bad idea, but... I definitely prefer art. Have you done any before? Even just doodling random shapes can be nice.

[mouflon]

Not really. I've always had more important things to do with my time.

[ ...She, like. Doesn't mean that in a way that's as rude as it sounds. ]
