WEEK 4

Another trial, another week, and still you're probably running lower on answers than you'd like. And on people - you lost three since last Sunday. By the end of this week, you'll have been here for nearly a full month, yet still the days crawl on.

You wake up Sunday, again with no memory of Saturday, but this time with a simple message on your devices: You may resume requesting items, if you like. Enjoy. Guess it really was just a stealth motive after all, but at least it's being communicated that it's over! That's something, at least.

And when you leave your rooms on Sunday, there's another new area to explore! This one is... certainly more ambitious in its construction than the last one, to say the least. But hey, you have a pretty neat place to host parties, if you feel so inclined! That's... fun...

Hey, you gotta find the fun in situations like this where you can! Silver linings, right?

Oh, so you want something, like, strong strong. I'm not really an expert, but I can maybe give you a shot or two, if you're looking to take a bit of a load off. I can't say that I blame you.

[ Ema is just enabling bad behavior today-- ]

Wha- oh, no, I don't drink to pass out, I drink 'cause I like the way it feels burning my throat!

I used to have a good gulp 'a that stuff, mmmm. Unfortunately, wouldn't you know it, they discontinued it just last year! Weak!

[ the moon took even this from her. ]

[ Huh. Discontinued? That sounds peculiar...Bacardi's a pretty famous brand, isn't it? ]

I think I can give you a hookup, if that's what you're out for.

[ It doesn't take a lot of digging before she pulls out a clear bottle of rum, with a somewhat menacing-looking bat on the face-- ]

[ A huge gasp. ] The promised land.

Well, who am I to get in the way of a reunion between old friends? As a matter of fact, it sounds like grounds for a little celebration, so I'd be a little remiss if I let you drink alone.

[ In keeping with the theme, it seems like the shot glasses are tiny, plastic, and multi-colored, but they'll certainly get the job done. She'll make it two. ]

Go ahead. I think it's saying, "I missed you too, Della."

[ Fingers wiggling with excitement, Della snatches up a shot glass and swiftly downs it. From the instant the liquid hits her tongue, she has a visceral reaction, whole body going stiff. A hum of surprise leaves her closed mouth and the instant she's swallowed she shiver-shudders as the drink goes down. ]

Hhhhooooooo, ohhhhhh. [ A small hiss of appreciation. ] That. That is the stuff, woo! [ Smacking her bill together, still feeling the after-effects, as she...probably will, for the next several minutes. ] Ha! Oh, it's been so long, hot mama this is still great!

[ ...Yeah, okay, wow, that does taste kind of like fire going down, like she's drinking rubbing alcohol. There's a reason why her stress vice is chocolate and not liquor, hoo boy.

But she's trying her best not to let that show on her face, even if she's kind of reeling when she swallows, with a bit of an a-hem from the back of her throat. Cocktails she can handle, when she's nursing them, but straight shots? Good God. ]

It's...yeah, you sure weren't kidding about a burn, Della. That does the trick and then some.

Uhhh-huhhuhhhuh, isn't it great. [ Della Duck, reported masochist. ] An' the burn just stays there, sitting in your tummy. Mmmmm.

[ It's...yeah, she's noticed it's lingering, for sure-- ]

Hey now, you're a bit smaller than me, so don't get too carried away, alright? It's a little early to get sloshed here, and it sounds like you're already feeling it a bit...

Pffsh, don't you worry! I'm used to this kinda stuff! [ A beat. ] Okay, maybe it's been awhile since I've been able to just kick back with this little liquid fireball...

[ She coughs a little, and oof, that hurts a lot more than it used to?? Who knew ten years could make such a difference! ]

Woosh! Alright, maybe one, just that one for now.

[snackooed]

Yeah, hang on, let me get you some water or something!

[ She's quick to fill an actual glass this time with ice from the freezer and bottled water from the fridge-- ]

Here, make sure you drink this! Maybe work your way back up to a proof like this...

[ 75% is nothing to sneeze at... ]

[ She breathes out and oh god everything even her nostrils is on fire, was it always this horrifically potent?! ]

Hhhhhhuu... [ A gulp of water. ] I used to be able to put away like three 'a these things in a row. Stupid moon.

[ Yeah, blame the moon, not the inevitability of getting older, Della. ]

[ Poor thing... ]

I get the feeling you wouldn't want to do that now, anyway. Three shots of anything is really no joke, let alone something this strong. You'd be slammed eight ways to Sunday, scientifically speaking.

[ Is that really scientific..? ]

But either way, to me, you've got nothing to prove.

I ain't trying to prove anything, it's just... Ugh, feels bad.

[ Grumble, grumble. She rubs her temples. Bacardi hits fast. That water, much nicer. ]

And here I was givin' advice to... [ ...Erk. That feels worse. She trails off. ]

[ Della doesn't finish that sentence, but Ema can probably venture a guess as to how she was going to, all things considered. She props an elbow against the bar and puts her chin in her palm. ]

I'm sure it was good advice, in good faith. But I know what you mean. Not to be maudlin, but it's frustrating, when you realize you have more limits than you might've thought, right? Even when it comes to something kind of small.

...Yeah. Something along those lines. [ She drums her fingers against the bar as she takes another big gulp of water. ] I think for now I'll stick to what I know I can take. Maybe...heck, even some of that...

[ Oh, huh. She pauses for a moment. ]

Next time you drop by, if I decide to take up another shift, I'll gladly make you one of those, Della. I don't wanna brag, but I made Therion a mean spiked apple cider not too long before you got here. And between you and me? He was looking pretty pink in the cheeks by the time he left.

Uh...huh. Actually, I was wondering. Is there any premixed back there? Wanted to see what the bottle looks like.

[ Because, Della's got a hunch. A rather distracted hunch. ]

There should be. I think I saw every flavor under the sun back here, when I was poking around before.

[ She grabs a lime with her garnish tongs and turns around with it, popping it in her mouth to suck on while she searches through bottles. That liquor taste is persistent-- ]

Let's see, it should be pretty darn gr--bingo.

[ True to her word, green as green can be. ]
