WEEK 4

Another trial, another week, and still you're probably running lower on answers than you'd like. And on people - you lost three since last Sunday. By the end of this week, you'll have been here for nearly a full month, yet still the days crawl on.

You wake up Sunday, again with no memory of Saturday, but this time with a simple message on your devices: You may resume requesting items, if you like. Enjoy. Guess it really was just a stealth motive after all, but at least it's being communicated that it's over! That's something, at least.

And when you leave your rooms on Sunday, there's another new area to explore! This one is... certainly more ambitious in its construction than the last one, to say the least. But hey, you have a pretty neat place to host parties, if you feel so inclined! That's... fun...

Hey, you gotta find the fun in situations like this where you can! Silver linings, right?

The whole thing just seemed...a little surprising, to some people. [ like. she doesn't pretend to know but my dude you had a slight look of the Nettles ] It's a really wide offer, don't you think?

It is. Wide enough to be of interest to most, and yet spanning so many possibilities as to be impossible.

Throw a wide net, catch a lot of...eh, you know. [ the dreaded f-word ] ...Actually, sort of wanted to pick your brain a bit too. After last week's...targeted approach, doesn't that seem a little odd? Almost too broad?

Not at all. This too, I find targeted even with the implied wide range such an offer could cover. Perhaps not to one single individual, but at most to a small handful.

Consider carefully the wording of the Professor's offer: I’ll grant this person’s greatest wish. Not 'your' greatest wish, but another's. To me, that implies only those who would act in service to another, to the point of even doing the unthinkable.

...A target on the altruistic, rather than a single attempt at starvation. [ H...uh. ] He's trying to call the bluff that...caring for other people prevents someone from actively killing another.

That, and perhaps one of us knows someone with a wish worth killing for. It could be either, or perhaps a bit of both.

So, in a way, he could still be targeting someone very specific. [ That's worrying! ]

Indeed, I do suspect as much. I would start with those who showed the most extreme reactions to the offer itself.

Oh, I'm fairly sure this is some manner of mass ritual sacrifice. One or two might live, if we're exceptionally fortunate.

What makes you think this is the same?

It's clear he has no issue compromising the ordinary scientific method for his desired outcome, so to continue calling this an 'experiment' is foolishness at best. Therefore, I have to consider what else one would go to such lengths and bloodshed for. While I do not know to what end all of this is, my assumption is that the loss of life itself is the purpose.
