WEEK 4

Another trial, another week, and still you're probably running lower on answers than you'd like. And on people - you lost three since last Sunday. By the end of this week, you'll have been here for nearly a full month, yet still the days crawl on.

You wake up Sunday, again with no memory of Saturday, but this time with a simple message on your devices: You may resume requesting items, if you like. Enjoy. Guess it really was just a stealth motive after all, but at least it's being communicated that it's over! That's something, at least.

And when you leave your rooms on Sunday, there's another new area to explore! This one is... certainly more ambitious in its construction than the last one, to say the least. But hey, you have a pretty neat place to host parties, if you feel so inclined! That's... fun...

Hey, you gotta find the fun in situations like this where you can! Silver linings, right?

Well, if that's how you're going to look at it. [ Rin shrugs. ] What I'm saying is that it's all about how you sell it to her. It's not a game, it's a combat simulation.

Maybe someone else could sell it to her like that.

[Not Rose, for sure. Probably not a human, either.]

Though she might end up punching the screen.

Good point. It's no skin off my nose if the Professor's toys get trashed, but I guess someone else might be upset about losing the machine.

[ Not her! Definitely! ]

I saw her using the pool earlier. She was walking around the bottom.

[so yeah, she's still incapable of enjoying herself in any way]

Hey, can't fault her for that. She's pretty heavy.

We can swim, if we want to. I think it's fun!

I guess that makes sense... Is it something you just know how to do? Actually, I don't even know if you guys... You know, have to grow up and learn things.

No, we're never children. We just come out of the ground pre-programmed for whatever role the Diamonds mean for us to fill.

[She seems sad about it! Probably fine though!]

Wow. So I guess you really meant what you said when you told me that Jasper doesn't know any better.

She could still learn better. [It's not like she's completely blameless. She probably has a lot of blame!] But she's so stubborn. I'm starting to doubt she ever will.

[mouflon]

That's how some of them are. There are people who wouldn't be able to see reason if it slapped them in the face. [ sigh ] It's a lot easier to stay brainwashed than it is to accept that everything you stand for it a lie, you know?

I do.

[And there's more she could say here, but the Pink Diamond thing isn't public just yet, so.]

All our recruits were Homeworld once. There weren't any Gems who hadn't served them, at one point or another. But we never recruited everybody.

[mouflon]

They made their choice. You can't make that your responsibility.

I guess not.

[This is probably a conversation she's had before.]

It was never just low-ranking Gems, either. One of my first fellow rebels was a Sapphire - they're rare aristocratic Gems. She fell in love with her Ruby bodyguard, and ran away to keep her safe from Blue Diamond.

[mouflon]

Yeah, don't worry. I know that rebels come from all walks of life. [ That actually brings a small smile to Rin's face. ] Practically the only thing we all had in common was that the system had screwed us over somehow.

[lovelikeyou]

[Rose smiles too. It's a little nostalgic, isn't it...?]

We were all like that, too. There were so many of us, once.

[mouflon]

Y-yeah...

[ Did Rin's voice just waver? Haha, don't be ridiculous. She clears her throat. ]
