WEEK 4

Another trial, another week, and still you're probably running lower on answers than you'd like. And on people - you lost three since last Sunday. By the end of this week, you'll have been here for nearly a full month, yet still the days crawl on.

You wake up Sunday, again with no memory of Saturday, but this time with a simple message on your devices: You may resume requesting items, if you like. Enjoy. Guess it really was just a stealth motive after all, but at least it's being communicated that it's over! That's something, at least.

And when you leave your rooms on Sunday, there's another new area to explore! This one is... certainly more ambitious in its construction than the last one, to say the least. But hey, you have a pretty neat place to host parties, if you feel so inclined! That's... fun...

Hey, you gotta find the fun in situations like this where you can! Silver linings, right?

...that's a child. And your world doesn't have magic, does it? You're saying it's replicated with machines, like the Professor and Angel do?

Technically we have magic? The time travel Gil invented when he was older is technological though.

You and me both, sister. I time traveled through multiple centuries, ended up here, and I'm still not entirely sure it's worse.

I see. ...What's technically magic?

[reallyhatesharks]

I'm under the impression magic is usually more widespread than a maybe-magical ancient artifact keeping your world from collapsing into ruin and that one time you met Morgana and she mostly used her magic to get herself out of situations.

[In other words: there is technically magic in Sharknado but there's no system or consistency to the magic she's seen so. You know. She doesn't know shit all about it.]

Yes, to those who know about it. Where I'm from, those who can't trace their family history back to a mage line just don't know about magic, as far as I'm aware. I don't generally talk to those people anyway.

I'm pretty sure what happened is that humanity used magic to seal away the sharknados and then magic died out because it was as necessary anymore. I've met a few other people who know about magic and they're kind of the exception, not the rule.

I suppose if your world has that sort of thing...

There could be some weird cabal of magicians in London playing Harry Potter that I don't know about, but I feel like they should've maybe done something about the sharknados when they started up again.

I don't know how it could just die out, but honestly, nothing else makes sense anyway.

You just don't use it. If society stops doing things for long enough, people forget how to do them entirely because less and less knowledge is being passed down.

Perhaps that's true. I just wouldn't want to see a world without the thing I devoted my life to. I'm sure it's the same for anyone.

I would. Sometimes you don't devote your life to something because you want to.

But that's wanting to be rid of it, so once you've accomplished that, you haven't lost anything.

Wouldn't you, though? If something made you what you are, isn't getting rid of it almost like getting rid of a part of yourself?

It's still your dream, is it not? The one thing you want. It's just that that want is to be rid of something.

[reallyhatesharks]

I guess you could say that. I don't know if a deep-seated hatred can be considered a "dream," though.
