WEEK 4
Another trial, another week, and still you're probably running lower on answers than you'd like. And on people - you lost three since last Sunday. By the end of this week, you'll have been here for nearly a full month, yet still the days crawl on.
You wake up Sunday, again with no memory of Saturday, but this time with a simple message on your devices: You may resume requesting items, if you like. Enjoy. Guess it really was just a stealth motive after all, but at least it's being communicated that it's over! That's something, at least.
And when you leave your rooms on Sunday, there's another new area to explore! This one is... certainly more ambitious in its construction than the last one, to say the least. But hey, you have a pretty neat place to host parties, if you feel so inclined! That's... fun...
Hey, you gotta find the fun in situations like this where you can! Silver linings, right?

I don't like regretting things. I like making sure that I'm ahead enough that any risk I'm taking is worth the reward.
Here, it's just weighing the likelihood of dying against the potential gain of making it out alive. That's all it is to me. No offense.

[ She leans her head against the washer. ]
Kind of pretentious of the guy, though. To imply he could just...snap his fingers and fix all your problems. Give your daughter the life she wants. Crazy jerk.

[This week sucks? This week sucks.]
And I mean... I'm still not going to offer any mercy or forgiveness to anyone who tries to kill and get away with it, no matter how understandable I find it. I'd actually be really mad if people tried to offer that sort of thing to me.

[ Della quietly pulls a photo from her pocket. She flashes it, so Birkin can see. It's a laid-back young duck boy. ]
He tried using one of my kids too. I think if I ever meet this guy, I'm gonna clock him with one of those freakin' maces.

[ A humorless laugh. ] Giving him exactly what he wanted would mean putting an eleven-year-old in charge of a multi-billion dollar corporation. Again. So. While I'm insulted about this guy trying to use my son, I didn't really...have the moral dilemma, beyond how recognizable I want the Professor's face to be at the end of all this.

Annette and Sherry. I'd appreciate the other picture he gave me if it were less creepy.
[He shifts his grip on it a bit, letting the bottom of the locket slide up a bit; it seems there's another compartment underneath it, and he lets a folded piece of paper slip out of it before passing it to Della.]
Lif gave me that. While we're sharing reasons to want to smash the Professor's face in.
[Once unfolded, it's a very nice drawing of these three people. The drawing doesn't seem quite finished and polished, but it's a good drawing and they seem happy.]
Those are his parents, and his sister, Sharena. I'm pretty sure that if he could have foreseen how that trial was going to end he wouldn't have left that to me, but I'd kind of like it back anyway once you're done with it.

Della takes the piece of paper gingerly. Very carefully. ]
Oh, Lif. He drew these. [ She more murmurs than asks that, because it's not a question. She sighs. ] ...He's not around to say it, so. I'll thank you for him, for hanging on to it. I'm not...done being mad at him, but. You know. It's complicated.

[He shrugs a little.]
I definitely still stand by the whole no-mercy-no-forgiveness thing. But I don't really hate the people that try it. I guess I can respect them for having tried at all, just because that's how things work where I'm from. You make sure you get yours, and to hell with all the rest.

I see how it is - not going to let me deflect and talk about anyone else's feelings this time, huh?

I am going to stay in there tonight, though. Don't worry about that.

[ She hands the picture back. ]
Anyway. Thanks for the reassurance, either way.
