WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

I mean it was probably smaller before. Piers is...was a Gym leader, so I'd expect his team to be mostly fully-evolved.

[mouflon]

Wait, so you're not familiar with whatever this thing is, either?

[ladygeryon]

[Nira shakes her head.] Piers was from Galar, and I was born in Unova. And every region has a different distribution of native Pokemon.

[mouflon]

I guess that makes sense... It'd be weird if some place just had the same animals everywhere you went. Does that mean you don't know anything about it, either, though?

[ladygeryon]

I'm afraid not. Though I suspect it's part Electric-type, at least, judging from the yellow spikes. And possibly Poison-type as well.

[mouflon]

So... [ Rin sneaks a nervous, fidgety glance in its direction. ] Are you going to know how to take care of it, then?

[ Not that she cares!!! ]

[ladygeryon]

I'll do my best. I'm sure Slade will be able to help as well. [Let Piers' Pokemon be together again!]

[mouflon]

Well, you probably have a better idea than I do, either way... I was about to take it to the dining room and see what I get when I order "lizard food".

[ladygeryon]

[Nira nods.] Pokemon can eat a lot of different foods, actually, but they do have their own diet preferences. I'm happy to look after it, and any other of Piers' Pokemon you might find.

[mouflon]

Assuming it's me that finds them. It came out of that thing, you know? [ She jerks a thumb over her shoulder at the vending machine. ] It might be worth putting a note up somewhere, so other people can see it.

[ladygeryon]

Yeah, that's a good idea, thanks. I don't know if I should hope the rest of our teams are there or that they're safe back home...

[Look. Having the rest of the team around is comforting emotionally, but it's also harrowing to think about them all being abducted together.]

[mouflon]

That's not something I can answer. Do they know what's happening when they're inside, you know—

[ Rin is still holding the pokeball, incidentally. She waves it in the space between them. ]

[ladygeryon]

It depends. They can be somewhat aware of their surroundings when just recalled, or if they concentrate, but the longer they're in a Pokeball the closer it is to being in stasis.

[mouflon]

[ hmm ]

Then they might not even be aware of what happened, right? And it's not hurting them to be stuck wherever they are.

[ladygeryon]

...probably not, yeah. They'll probably just be...extremely disoriented, when they finally get out.

[mouflon]

I wouldn't worry about them too much, then. The problem isn't them being here, it's, you know...

[ ha ha she is so glad the responsibility of breaking the news is no longer hers! ]

[ladygeryon]

...right. I'll let this one know, after letting Slade get reacquainted with his friend first. And I'll do it somewhere more private-I can take a bit of electrocution if it reacts badly.

[mouflon]

Positive about that? Most of us aren't really functioning as intended, you know.

[ladygeryon]

Even younger trainers can handle some electric shocks without too much trouble. Besides, the power reduction works on the Pokemon as well. Jewel definitely can't do as much as she used to be able to.

[mouflon]

Huh, I hadn't considered that. How so?

[ladygeryon]

She's a Poison-type, but her usual acid is definitely weaker than before. And she can't even produce as much as she used to. It also seems that Aria's blade has been dulled, but that could just have been a physical thing, so Jewel's changes are a more useful way to tell.
