WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to Week 5! Remember to turn in AC here, threads for regain coins here, and if you feel so inclined you can visit Angel's office hours over here! Or, if you want Angel to come to you, that's now an option! Simply put a prompt after lights-out into your toplevel and indicate you want Angel in the subject line, same as investigations! ]

He certainly likes to go to a lot of trouble. An entire labelled section, really?

It's probably no trouble for him, since he's obviously having fun with this.
emberserker: Arrogant glare. (i'm the greatest)

[personal profile] emberserker 2020-05-03 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Infinite resources indeed. How does he even keep all of this going?
philoxenia: (climbing up the walls)

I'm starting to really wonder that, too. An arcade is expensive on its own, but a waterpark? And now a fully-functional garden and what seems to be a large museum in this area....

Whatever funding he's receiving, it's nothing to sneeze at.
emberserker: Arms crossed, standing by a pillar. (quick comment)

Even if much of it's stolen goods, probably with the same kind of technology he's used to get us and the things in the prize machine, it's a tremendous effort. Surely he'd have been noticed. Whatever and whoever these connections funding him are, it makes one wonder what's going on outside this place.
philoxenia: (keeping empty beds elsewhere)

... Maybe this is commonplace in whatever world we've ended up in. Not just that we might not be the first group here, but...

Or maybe I'm just thinking too much about this. Either way... if someone is funding an experiment like this, I'm not sure I want to meet them.
emberserker: Calmly reaching up, holding a large crystal. (relax and think about murder)

[personal profile] emberserker 2020-05-03 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
He does say this is a modern Earth, but we know just from what we've seen him do that it's hardly ordinary. Unless this isn't his own world, just one he's put us into to keep his hands off.
philoxenia: (will i ever follow through?)

[personal profile] philoxenia 2020-05-04 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Mm... Have we ever found out what "modern" means? It's sort of subjective, depending on who you ask...
emberserker: Posing, about to use her scythe or axe. (i'm the coolest)

[personal profile] emberserker 2020-05-04 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Angel did say it was 2020, but a good deal of this technology doesn't fit there whatsoever.
philoxenia: (til the fire blazing light)

[personal profile] philoxenia 2020-05-04 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
No, it doesn't... That vending machine, in particular, as you mentioned.

... I wonder if it's a more advanced 2020 than we'd be familiar with. So perhaps the technology used here isn't advanced for this world or the Professor's, but would be for us.

I'm thinking that the world may be as it is, but the Professor's likely been pulling things in from other worlds, like he has us. Whether the ability he has to do it in the first place was from secret research or he isn't truly from this world.
philoxenia: (who's running things)

[ ... hm. ]

Well, that explains why there are so many books about theft in the library. I just have to wonder what the end to all of this is.
emberserker: Arms crossed, standing by a pillar. (quick comment)

There's something he wants that he can't just take, and he does tend to mention he's got a number of backers behind him. Though how beholden to them he really is, versus whether he's got them tricked, is another thing.
philoxenia: (almost dead)

[personal profile] philoxenia 2020-05-07 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
... I'd be more willing to believe he's got them tricked. Those books on crime in the library, I imagine those are fairly telling.
emberserker: Anna sitting like she's on a throne. (now all i need is a treasure)

[personal profile] emberserker 2020-05-07 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
At first it just seemed like a way to encourage us, but it's likely also just his personal interest, is that right?
