WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

It's less branching out, and more that I just hadn't gotten any of them before last week.

Absence breeding ingenuity... Wow, it's almost like a metaphor for our situation.

[ She sets the nesting dolls down at the edge of the table, now that she's come close enough. She hasn't even taken them apart enough to find the stick of gum, so he can have that as a... bonus...?? ]

I'm not even going to pretend this won't be at least eight times worse than this by the time I consider it finished. Something that I'm hoping is not also a metaphor for our situation.

[ She laughs, just a little. ]

I don't know. I think we could stand to make things at least a little worse — for the Professor.

Oh, I'm absolutely behind that much.

[Kind of hard not to be.]

I don't think I'd be too out of line in gifting this thing to him. Preferably by introducing the sharp bits to his face.

That sounds like the least you could do to me. Hey, he wanted to see what we'd do with the options available to us, right?

Sure did. Which sounds like a mistake to me, but since we've been given free rein of the place I'm not going to complain.

I do think it's interesting that we're apparently allowed to do whatever we want, short of busting the windows. Like, sure, there's apparently a crew that comes in to do little repairs from time to time, but I'd still think you'd want to keep the place in better condition than that.

Well, we are being encouraged to murder each other. You can't really have too many rules against property damage if that's the case - wouldn't want to discourage anyone from acting if they might get punished for breaking things.

[mouflon]

Add in an exemption clause? [ Then, abruptly, she makes a disgusted noise in the back of her throat. ] Actually, never mind. I don't want to think about how to do this guy's job for him.

...Let's not help him build a better game if we can avoid it, yeah.

Honestly, I think he likes it this way, too. Therion and I tried to take the video screen off the wall in the meeting room earlier, and he was just like, oh, not that there's anything wrong with being petty vandals!

[ Naturally, she relates the last bit in an unflattering tone of voice. ]

You tried to- ...Why.

Well, the point wasn't vandalism! He was curious if the glass on the screen was the same kind used on the windows, and I've wanted to get a look at whatever wiring is inside the walls. Two birds with one stone, you know?

Did he stop you, or did he just contact you to ask what you were doing?

[mouflon]

He just asked what we were doing, and then gave us that stupid line about petty vandalism having its place. [ ugh ] Well, that and tell us that our tool wasn't strong enough for the job, but that still wasn't... an order, or even a request to stop.

I suppose that follows. You technically weren't breaking any rules, after all.

That, and... Like I said, it felt like he liked that we were doing it. It was just a text message, so I couldn't judge by his tone or anything, but I guess that whatever he wants to prove with this, the lack of restrictions is part of the point.
