WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

[He'd really rather try to drill just beside and then underneath it, if he can. Kinda pry it up, you know? He'll start at one of the corners.]

[ Interesting! That's doable - the part of the wall the drill can actually get through is shallow before it hits... metal? Feels like metal. Anyway, with enough effort he can probably get a decent grip.

Unfortunately, the screen seems to be securely bolted to the wall. ]

Rrrgh... it's bolted on tight again. And I can't get any deeper through the wall itself.

[He spares a quick glance toward Angel's door, then asks Rin:]

If I try to use this thing right on glass, what'll happen?

[mouflon]

[ Rin hums. ]

Assuming the glass isn't too thick for the drill to penetrate altogether? It'll crack if you don't do it exactly the right way, and maybe even if you do. Depends on exactly what process the glass was treated with to begin with. Either way, if you punch through, you're going to hurt the electronic bits behind the screen.

[ On the other hand, she isn't not encouraging him to try anyway. ]

Electronic... like electric. Will that hurt me.

[He knows what lightning does. Sometimes, he's standing a little too close to the target when one of the party spellslingers casts Thunder.]

[mouflon]

[ ...pff. ]

Nope. The drill's handle isn't made of conductive materials, see?

Hmm.

[Well then.

VRRRRRRRR...!

He takes the drill to the screen.]

[ VRRRR

Well, neither the screen nor the drill, from the sound of it, particularly enjoy that! The screen is scratched, but not broken.

It does, however, earn Therion a buzz on his device. ]

[Well, he's deaf forever now, so maybe it's good the Professor just texts him. One hand covers one ear, the other hand pulls out his device. What's the sitch?]

[ Kim, it's Drakken, he's kidnapped a bunch of people and is forcing them to-

No, no, but there is a text!

Out of curiosity, what was your plan? Simple vandalism? ]

[Still rubbing his ear, he shows the message to Rin, then addresses the scratched screen.]

Exploration and investigation.

I would have just told him yes, honestly.

[ that's absolutely not her goal, but why does she have to justify her interests to him?? smh ]

[ No need to feel ashamed of petty vandalism. It has its place, as crimes go.

I assure you there is little else to find than mechanical parts in there, though. As much as I appreciate the spirit of inquiry - in another life, you might have made a good student. ]

[ I'm just going to assume Rin is still looking at the screen over Therion's shoulder— ]

I'm sure. Doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to see exactly what parts are there for myself, though.

And like I told Ema, I'm a little past the age of prenticeship, thanks.

[ Oh I have no doubt you're past the point of teaching. But I cannot exactly make it physically easier to break open the television, either, so I felt I should at least say something. ]

Then since we already have you on the line, how about we just cut the tension and have you confirm or deny something for me?
