WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

[Predictably, he ignores what he wants to ignore by pulling his scarf up.]

[ Unsurprising, but... ]

I-- thank you. It's lovely. [ She holds it, thumb brushing along the dog's wooden back. ] You really have a way with making things.

[bolderfell]

[He shrugs and flexes his fingers.]

I like to keep my hands busy. Most important tool I have, so I always need them in good condition.

[philoxenia]

It's a good way to pass the time, too, I'm sure.

[ hmm. ]

Have you ever worked with clay?

[bolderfell]

...To make things? No.

[Mira. Mira. Sculpting doesn't involve nearly enough Knife for Therion.]

[philoxenia]

[ not with THAT attitude-- ]

If you ever wanted to, there are some really neat things to make.

[bolderfell]

I don't really...

[He scratches his head and looks away.]

It's not about making anything, really. I know my way around knives, and there's usually no shortage of sticks or stumps at camp. That's all. I mean. [He huffs a half-laugh.] Who ever heard of a thief making things.

[philoxenia]

[ Hmm.

She brushes her thumb against the little wooden dog. ]

Well, I see nothing wrong with it. Besides, this is something you've made, and I think it's nice. I could never do something like this, anyway...

[ And it means a lot to her, but she'll keep that to herself. ]

You paint, don't you? ...I've seen the portraits.

[philoxenia]

I do, but... it's nothing like carving or sculpting. I've never quite been able to get the hang of those.

[bolderfell]

Well, why do you do it? Not because you can't carve or sculpt, I'm sure.

[philoxenia]

[ She thinks about that for a while. ]

I suppose because... it's easier to say things with a painting that I might not otherwise be able to. Even if it's just for myself, getting that out--it helps.

[bolderfell]

Right. So you really do it to make something. Me, I'm... keeping busy. Recreating things I've seen in as much detail as I remember. Staying limber. The carving I end up with is just a byproduct in the end.

[Never mind that he must have been paying attention to get the details right.]
