WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

I found a number like that in the gym showers a couple of weeks ago, actually.

I see. We've got maps and we know this is some version of 2020 Earth, so putting them together should plot out a conclusion. Two, if we switch them around, and then we only need to determine which is which.

I think latitude only goes up to 90 degrees north or south, if I'm not mistaken. So since that's 124, if it's a coordinate, that narrows it down to the longitude...

Besides, it's not like we don't have any idea where we are. He mentioned the Pacific, and as far as I know, that checks out?

Then if those coordinates point to some spot in the Pacific, we have a bullseye, right?

Should be. Are there any books on geography in the library? That's probably quicker and easier than getting a map off the wall upstairs.

There was Angel's atlas, right? Did we give that back to her? If not, maybe we can find another. And worst case scenario, I don't mind running up to borrow a map from the museum.

I gave that back to her, yeah. The maps don't really, uh...come off the walls? But I found a lot of other atlases in the library.

Then I'll run out and nab one. In the meantime, let's get that other number ready, just so we can hash it out lickety-split when I get back! Even if it's in the middle of the ocean, it's something.

Okay, down 8.78, and to the west 124.5, and we wind up...off the coast of Peru, apparently.

How far off the coast? We're not close enough to be getting too many costal fish.

We're at 124.5 degrees west here, and the coast of Peru seems to be at...

Let's call it 78.75? It's a pretty significant distance.

Explains why I couldn't get a closer reading on where we were. That far off the coast and you're talking fish with pretty wide ranges. So wide it'd be nearly impossible to pinpoint a location without more data.

Which means even if we know where we are, it's still the middle of nowhere.

...If we're in a world like the one I'm familiar with, there should be an island just south of here. The corporation I work for has a training facility out there.

Otherwise, yeah, pretty much.

I can get us back to land if we have coordinates, though, so at least there's that.
