WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

Okay, um... You place this smaller bit of wood on the board-- [ which she does! ] --and you ask a question, like, "Is anyone here?" and if there's a-- ghost here, it'll move the smaller piece to certain letters to spell out an answer.

S-scientifically speaking!

[ Ema is all too quick to chime in, here! Ignore the fact that her voice might have jumped up an octave, in her rush to get her piece out there. ]

Scientifically speaking, it's just your body moving unconsciously! It's got nothing to do with ghosts, or spirits, or anything like that...

[ But even she doesn't sound too...sure....... ]

It's worth trying. If we do have ghosts or spirits about, we should see how much they can affect. After all, if the seal on our abilities is on us and not a side effect of this world having no magic, it's useful to confirm that, isn't it? So what are you waiting for?

R-right, well! If it is just my body moving, y-you'll be able to tell because I'm a horrible liar!

The good news is if there's no magic here none of us can get possessed, even if there are spirits around. [She says casually, shoving three tater tots into her mouth.]

I've heard of spirit channeling before, but I always thought it was unscientific, so I never...

[ Well, it doesn't quite fly. ]

I've heard about Avvar mages taking in spirits when they're young to learn how to control their magic but usually anything like that just ends in horrible abominations. [munch munch] But that's only if you have magic. Possessed rocks don't typically become abominations.

Oh, no, there's definitely ghosts.
