WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

[Guess who's short. Therion ducks and rolls, too, and comes up with a knife, and then Rose runs past, laughing, and like.

That was my lion friend! He was in the machine!

I'm not sure! They must have gone all the way out to the desert to get him!

[she did take that as "why do you have a lion HERE" and not just a general "why do you have a lion"]

Lions eat people!

[When they're not sleeping tonight in the jungle, anyway.]

No, they mostly eat antelope!

He doesn't really eat much, anyway. I think it's the same reason he's pink.

[Oh, he was pink, wasn't he. That's weird. What could that mean.]

...He's a magic lion.

I guess he is! I'll try to get him to make a portal when I catch up, but I doubt those will work either.

Portal...? Like a door?

He can make portals to different places. Only places he's been to before, I think - I mean, he is a lion.

[He's very smart, but he's also just a big cat; you can't really describe a foreign place to him and have him know how to get there.]

But, still. Everyone going back to Earth would be better than this. [granted she would probably just have to attack and bubble Jasper and that might go over weird

well it's probably a non-problem]

The Professor can't be the only one with this technology. Whatever it is that lets him "extract" things--they aren't even his machines, right? Once we're out of here, we can find some other way to get everyone back where they belong.

...well, don't tell anyone until I can catch him. All his powers are from Gem energy, so if I can't use mine...

[Her hopes aren't high and she doesn't want to get everyone else's up!]

All right. But... might keep some from doing anything too hasty, too. Knowing there's another way out, I mean, if we can just get past whatever the Professor did to us.

[That's a point she hadn't considered.]

It'd make a lot more sense coming from you. Probably sound more trustworthy, too.

I suppose. I'll just tell a few people, maybe.

So... how did you tame a lion, anyway?

Oh, I've known him since he was little. His pride lives in a desert I visit sometimes.

Ah. So you got him used to your scent and all that.

[lovelikeyou]

I guess so? We've spent a lot of time together.

[bolderfell]

The other lions... let you?

[lovelikeyou]

I know them, too. He's just the one I'm closest with.

Guess you two are something of a matching set.

[Maybe lions are just pink on Rose's Earth, he doesn't know.]

And I guess you wouldn't have anything to fear from even a pack of them. Must be nice.

I think they can tell I'm just made of light.

[Not like she'd smell like a human and/or flesh being.]

I usually get along well with animals, anyway.

[Easy enough to accept. Plenty of people like that, especially around here, it seems.]

So are you made of starlight?
