WEEK 6

Another week, another three lost - and this time all to one murder case. And that's to say nothing of the execution, or whatever went on with that ouija board that still sits in the library... strange things are afoot in the facility, and some of them not even your captor seems fully equipped to explain.

The other of the two doors in the main living area finally opens after another lost Saturday, and what lies beyond is... strange, to say the least. Looks like there's no shortage of changes, even in the architecture. It certainly seems like you should have gotten something like this before the water park at the very least, don't you think?

Angel's still out and about at night, if you want to be found. And who knows what else you might find if you're out alone? Apparently, you might have a ghost on your hands.

[After a moment, he huffs a very quiet laugh.]

I always was better than him. But I guess that's what the problem was.

[philoxenia]

[ She lets out a soft, considering sound. ]

He couldn't handle that. [ She nods. ] Besides... this picture isn't an absolute.

[ Its only purpose is to frighten them into making a move. The worst part is that it's worked... She guesses that comes from the Professor's knowing more than she's comfortable admitting. ]

[bolderfell]

Of course not.

[This time, he flicks the image of himself with a finger, dismissive.]

Stupid to try to use this as a threat against me. He could show me any picture he wants, and he picks one where I don't even look dead? Idiot. He's all but assured me I survive.

[philoxenia]

[ She's still a little shaken when she looks at the photo, but-- you know, he's right. ]

If he's the smug, gloating type, you could easily grab the jewels and leave... right? Catch him off-guard.

[bolderfell]

Hah. He is--or was, at least. Doubt that's changed much. But he'll probably try a little harder to make sure my death takes this time, since I've given it the slip before.

[Sigh.]

Guess I'll just have to win.

[philoxenia]

I'd say you have an advantage, at least... You're going in knowing what he'll try to do, and knowing the worst-case scenario.

[ She says that so earnestly. She might not know the whole story, nor does she expect him to tell it--this had been much more than she'd ever expected--but she knows that he's tough and clever.

So... yeah, she believes in him. It's just-- she's not sure how to say that, or even if she should. ]

[bolderfell]

[He looks at Mira, struck by the way she says all that, and... huh. It's actually kind of hard to hold her gaze with that expression on her face. He drops his eyes, fiddling with the front of his scarf, and then nods.]

Yeah. Heh. Honestly, the Professor saved me a lot of work, telling me where the last two stones ended up. Once I've got those, I can put the whole business behind me--everything with Darius, with the people who put this band on me.

[In the end, when he finally looks up, his scarf stays where it's wrapped around his throat, obscuring nothing of this rare, tentative smile.]

Good luck to both of us, I suppose.

[philoxenia]

[ And Therion surprises her, again; she laughs lightly, just for the briefest of moments. She pushes a bit of hair out of her eyes, glancing away for a moment. Then back to him, smiling slightly. ]

A thief as good as you, I don't think you need luck. But-- all the same, thank you.

[ She pauses. ]

... And thank you for listening, and telling me this. I know how hard it can be.

[bolderfell]

[He shrugs and shakes his head.]

Like I said. Fair's fair.

[She's the one who had the courage first. Despite his, uh. Everything.]
