WEEK 6

Another week, another three lost - and this time all to one murder case. And that's to say nothing of the execution, or whatever went on with that ouija board that still sits in the library... strange things are afoot in the facility, and some of them not even your captor seems fully equipped to explain.

The other of the two doors in the main living area finally opens after another lost Saturday, and what lies beyond is... strange, to say the least. Looks like there's no shortage of changes, even in the architecture. It certainly seems like you should have gotten something like this before the water park at the very least, don't you think?

Angel's still out and about at night, if you want to be found. And who knows what else you might find if you're out alone? Apparently, you might have a ghost on your hands.

Proud of me? [ oh she's getting all SHY now ] These are just some dumb air horns. ...Honestly, it was a bad idea to give 'em to the kids, at least first thing. I didn't know how to be a mom right away, so...I tried leaning into the fun, exciting things we could do.

It might have been a bad idea but that does not mean the intent was. [She pauses.] It shows eagerness if nothing else. I... cannot say I was much better when I first was a mother, either.

Not at all once, even I could not handle that, but yes; I am not a young woman anymore. [And she only had one rock to go around.] I... well, I suppose I could share a few things.

[After all, she already told Mira about her youngest. Rhea closes her eyes so she could think clearly.] The oldest was Bael... she was nearly blind but that did not stop her. I still am unsure how she did it but she once tried climbing the roof of the cathedral-- one of the knights spotted her before she could hurt herself.

Now... Agares. I do hope your sons do not bring home, ah, pets. She found an injured bird on my balcony one day.... the next thing I knew it was stuck in my room!

[There's sadness to her words. They all had similarities, expressing emotion was never a strong suit and none could hear the voice of Sothis. Yet... each vessel was unique in their own way. At the time she couldn't see it but with the power of hindsight? It was a tragedy, really.]

[ Interesting names... But she hasn't connected any dots, yet. Della listens. She's long since hung up on the Professor, that blowhard. ]

Sounds like they were rowdy. Did they all have that in common? [ Past-tense... All this past-tense. Della wonders, if they were all long-lived like Rhea, or... ] And...did they all grow up only children?

You would never have guessed it from meeting them. I suppose that was their way of... well showing that they could. [That is the question.]

They did. They... were my attempts at bringing back Mother. [She winces at her own words.] Yet they all were born from my blood. I could never be a proper mother to them but I tried.

Your attempts... [ That last bit... That's gonna turn this conversation, a little. Della frowns, her her face wrinkling with thought. ] So they were...made. For a purpose.

Is... I don't suppose they were born how I'm thinking. Traditionally.

No. They were born in a similar way to Seteth and I. [Test tube dragons! But...]

Still. I did try to let them live their lives... Sitri even found herself a husband.

[ That's... She's processing this. ]

You...still loved them? Even if they didn't turn out to be what you meant for them to?

[ She's not confused; more...sizing Rhea up. ]

From what you said before, I'm... That actually surprises me a little.

I did admit I was not a good mother, Della. Loving your children and being a good parent to them are two different things.

[But... Della may remember something from a few weeks ago. Rhea's reaction to Tarzan. Rather, the relationship between a human and a gorilla mother. Wistful and, perhaps, a bit jealous.]

She was the youngest and out of all of them probably was probably the happiest. [Sitri was a lot like Mira. Just trying to make good on a bad situation.] I knew from when each were young that they could not hear Mother's voice and therefore could not be a vessel for her. Yet, they each were destined for short lives due to poor health. I... could not kill them.

[She'll fully admit that most of what she said at Zelos, while she believed them, was fueled with spite. Yet there was a difference in her mind from 'not being able to do one's duty' and 'throwing it away'.] They all passed of natural causes.

[ She takes a deep breath and...lets it out. A lot of what Rhea's said, it makes sense. She regards her, with a somewhat serious and...somewhat tired look? ]

To lose a family member...in any way, it's hard. And...I'm sorry, that you experienced that. So much loss. I... [ She's struggling with something. It's not clear what. ] You gave each of them the best life you could? The best life possible?

[She was one of the worst sinner she knew, even by the moral codes that Rhea herself established. Could even the goddess forgive her? Probably not. Her fingers dig into her palms.]

I tried. I cannot say I was successful in each case and some might have cursed me or their fate without me realize it. [She's a horrible woman and she knows it.]

[ ... ]

Do you know why I'm... Why being a mom is so important to me? [ Della's not looking at Rhea, not right now. ] It's because I fucked up, Rhea. I... I wasn't part of my sons' lives until really recently, actually. I made a foolish mistake, and it cost me. And it taught me something about my priorities. How...they were skewed. So, I... When I express skepticism, it's because I...stopped being able to conceive of it.

[ But, she finds that required gumption, and looks up. Despite the serious tone of it all, she sounds more conversational. Less judgmental. ]

I've spent a few precious months with my boys. But I'd do anything for them. They...were my motivation for not...laying down and dying, many years ago. So, I... I can't understand any other way.

That's why she's a good woman. Making mistakes, understanding they were mistakes, trying to remedy them... That's why it was a good thing Della was here.]

I think I understand where you are coming from. Perhaps towards something else but the sentiment all the same. That is the way I feel about my followers. I may not deserve them but I would do anything I could in my power to protect them.

[ Then why didn't you feel that way about your own children?

If you want to talk about your daughters, I'll listen. ...Without judgment. I can't imagine you were able to say much about them, before all this.

[She knows that sentiment, even if Della doesn't voice it. Why would you protect one group over another? Give your love in one place and scorn in another? Sometimes... you just couldn't.

I thank you for the effort. [She knows it's probably a worthless endeavor, though. How could she?} I know I am... [A complete mess of a lizard.] Someone who is hard to understand. Sometimes I wonder if even Mother could.

[Her brothers couldn't, after all. Would... she be proud of Rhea or disgusted? Rhea wishes for the best for she knows it's probably not true.]

I have already said the names of three. The others were Vassago, Samigina, Marbas, Valefor, Amon, Barbatos, Paimon, Buer, and Gusion.

...Do... Do you...have something called-- oh damn, it's probably something different, isn't it? So those are all names of demons, where I'm from.

Huh... Did...they have anything to do with the, uh...the Ars Goosetia? It probably doesn't have that name, if it exists for you.

That... no, not that I know of. It was probably some records from someplace Mother had lived before Fodlan. A register of births or deaths, perhaps. [She pauses.] Mother might have known what they were for sure but the ruin was abandoned before my time.

Right. Yeah. ...Sorry, don't think anything of it. Probably just another weird world difference.
