WEEK 6

Another week, another three lost - and this time all to one murder case. And that's to say nothing of the execution, or whatever went on with that ouija board that still sits in the library... strange things are afoot in the facility, and some of them not even your captor seems fully equipped to explain.

The other of the two doors in the main living area finally opens after another lost Saturday, and what lies beyond is... strange, to say the least. Looks like there's no shortage of changes, even in the architecture. It certainly seems like you should have gotten something like this before the water park at the very least, don't you think?

Angel's still out and about at night, if you want to be found. And who knows what else you might find if you're out alone? Apparently, you might have a ghost on your hands.

Oh. [ To be entirely fair, most of the time nobody wants to encourage whatever Jasper's doing, for good reason! If there were just some universal hand symbol for "Jesus Christ please stop everything"... ] What's so great about thumbs?

[ This. This is something she's never considered before. That's clear. Sleepy Della Duck just stares at Befuddled Jasper of Facet 9 Beta Kindergarten and struggles to find a response. ]

I...don't know, it's just...universal.

Obviously not, if we haven't heard of it.

[ But she's just saying that as a point of fact — there's no edge to it. She's a little too confused to be cutting. ]

... It's dangerous to leave your quarters when you're tired. [ THAT'S PROBABLY WHY SHE FORGOT THE SECOND HALF OF HER NAME...! ]

Huh? Oh! Oh, yeah. [ Della fights back another yawn. ] I was just gonna pop over to the dining hall for a snack.

[ She says, as if it makes ANYTHING better. ]

Eating isn't gonna make you any less vulnerable in the middle of the night. [ She pauses, very not awkwardly. ] My route is that way. Might as well come along if you're going no matter what.

...Aw, really? Sure. Thanks, Jas.

[ ...oh, there it is again. ]

Don't thank me. Just don't get yourself killed.

[ OKAY SHE'S WALKING NOW if only so Della won't see her face when she says: ]

[ Della's like, leaping to keep up with Jasper's stride, rip. ]

Yeah, it is! Well... Okay, it's a nickname. Do Gems have nicknames?

[ Thankfully (??), she turns her head at "yeah it is" and thereby slows down a little bit. She is still, however, eight feet tall. ]

Sometimes. [ But let's be real, most of the time people probably don't use them around her because she's such a bootlicking killjoy. ] Usually if you call a gem by part of her name, it's just because it's easier, or there's too many varieties around.

[ So, Rose, Lapis, whatever Ocean Jasper might have gotten shortened to. ]

[ It's okay. She's used to taller people! .......mostly. Kind of. Not this tall, but it's fine. ]

Well, people use nicknames on Earth 'cause...it's like a friendship thing.

Gems do that too. Sometimes.

But I don't.

[ HAVE... FRIENDS... ]

Oh. [ Slightly...put out. Just a little. ] Well. I kinda, you know. Started thinking of us as friends.

[hardnosed]

[ Well, okay, she said she could see them being friends. For a while, that's all she says. ]

But that's just because we're stuck here. If you knew me anywhere else, it wouldn't be the same.

Would've, should've, I...don't like thinking about that stuff.

[ ...Jasper probably has an idea why! But, Della's still upbeat. ]

What matters to me is what's happening here. And, here, I see you as my friend.

[hardnosed]

It's not like I can stop you. I just—

[ She just what? ]

Forget it. Just don't let your guard down. That's part of what's happening here.

Of course! Don't worry, I'm no quitter, I'm gonna keep myself safe.
