WEEK 6

Another week, another three lost - and this time all to one murder case. And that's to say nothing of the execution, or whatever went on with that ouija board that still sits in the library... strange things are afoot in the facility, and some of them not even your captor seems fully equipped to explain.

The other of the two doors in the main living area finally opens after another lost Saturday, and what lies beyond is... strange, to say the least. Looks like there's no shortage of changes, even in the architecture. It certainly seems like you should have gotten something like this before the water park at the very least, don't you think?

Angel's still out and about at night, if you want to be found. And who knows what else you might find if you're out alone? Apparently, you might have a ghost on your hands.

I've got three here. [ Just enough that she has to double-fist them to carry them all! She moves from the doorway to join him at the kiln. ] All in at once, or do you want to test one by itself first?

Well, what are we firing them in? Or are we just letting them melt across the bottom.

[WHERE IS THEIR ADULT SUPERVISION.]

Honestly, that sounds tempting. Has anyone actually been using this thing? I wouldn't want to cause problems for someone who matters, but I wouldn't mind making things a little harder for the Professor's employees.

[ Unfortunately, they're adults, making them their own supervisors. ]

Then all in. Kilns take a while to heat up and cool down, and we won't want to open it in the middle.

[mouflon]

Good point. Okay, then, in they go!

[ Maybe the Professor was right. Petty vandalism feels great!

Anyway, for the record, Rin is going to try to arrange them in a little diorama, for added fun. ]

Hah!

[Oh god, what is she making. They should have five statues, all told. Are they a little statue family? OR ARE THEY GOING TO MELT WHILST ENGAGED IN MORTAL COMBAT, A METAPHOR FOR THE FUTILITY OF HUMAN STRUGGLE?]

[mouflon]

[ There's one that seems like it's overlooking them, two that are standing together, and... ]

[Oh my GOD.]

You know, once it heats up, one will turn into the other. Why not both?

[ Rin considers that for a moment. Then, she moves the standing couple to lie on their backs, side-by-side. The priest continues to stand over them as the last two statues are placed at either side of the couple. ]

Perfect. I'd say it belongs in the gallery... but maybe the point of art like this is its fleeting nature.

[Get him a PhD in philosophy AND art criticism.]

[mouflon]

[ She laughs. ]

Honestly, now that I look at it, it looks more like they're about to perform a human sacrifice... But I guess that's pretty appropriate, too.

[ She steps back from the kiln. ]

Okay, let's get this show on the road!

Do you think I know how to start this thing?

[Rin. Rin.]

[mouflon]

[ Give it a second to sink in. ]

Why didn't you say so earlier?! I thought that since you brought it up, you knew how to work it...!

[bolderfell]

Hmm. You don't either, huh. I thought you knew a lot about machines.

[mouflon]

It's not like I need to use a kiln for hacking?! It's a piece of specialty equipment — I've never even touched one before now! Ugh, I wonder if there's a manual anywhere...

[bolderfell]

[Like the stereotype of a man, rather than wait for directions, Therion leans in to examine what's in front of him.]

Can't be that hard. [Gosh, this control panel... sure has a lot of words he doesn't understand on it! Uhhh.] Suppose these numbers at the top control the temperature. And these buttons say start and stop. What else do we need?

[mouflon]

[ Yeah, well. He can do what he wants, Rin isn't going to stop him. She's busy stomping around the art room looking for anything that might be an operation manual. ]

Uh... Maybe a timer? If you don't want to stop it manually...

[bolderfell]

Hm. I don't see that...

[Great googly moogly, these things are complicated.]

We don't really have to sit here the whole time, do we?

[mouflon]

I don't think so. It'd be one thing is there was a little window we could watch through, but...

Ugh, check if there are working instructions posted on the kiln itself, maybe?

[bolderfell]

[He makes a doubtful noise and looks all around the kiln. He also looks inside it. If he were, say, Jasper, he might look under it, but alas, he is only Therion.]

No such luck.

[mouflon]

[ Rin thinks for, like, half a second about using the new app to call the Professor, purely to be annoying and waste his time. Then she thinks that he'll probably just be snide and backhandedly mock her for not knowing how use the kiln, so instead, she stomps back over to it. After a quick appraisal of the button panel, she slams her thumb down on three almost-random ones and waits to hear the buzz of a machine coming to life. ]

There. That should do it.

[ And if this is bad for the machine, well, that's not her problem. What's it going to do, explode??? ]

[Did they even lock the lid.]

This'll be fun.

[He is so proud of them.]
