COMMENCE VOYAGE

Fun Fact: Did you know the Atlantic Ocean has a surface area of 41.1 million square miles? No reason.

...

There's something uneasy in the air as you come to.

Well, "come to" is an interesting word in this case. It implies waking up, which is not exactly what happens. None of you are in beds, nor are you really asleep in the traditional sense. One moment you're somewhere else, doing something else with your time, and the next? You're somewhere on board a massive cruise ship - maybe lounging on a deck chair by the pool, maybe getting some Gains in the exercise room, maybe enjoying the tasteful décor in the buffet - and you have no idea how you got here or how you might get back. This is not your beautiful house. If you have a beautiful wife, she isn't here.

What you do have, apart from 25 other unlucky souls, is a small smartphone-like device in your pocket with only a handful of things on it: a clock reading 11PM, a pdf of a ticket in your name on a special Atlantic Liners New Year's Eve Cruise, an app labeled Passenger Profiles with some basic information on your traveling companions, and a message:

Welcome aboard, passenger! Please feel free to partake of any of the facilities while you wait for the big event! Remember: when midnight comes, you better make your way to the theatre at the back of Level 1 for the main event! The Captain and the First Mate will be there to take care of you all personally, and to help you ring in the new year in style!

Well, that's a start. But what you do until then, it seems, is up to you!

Of course, Plumeria. I know well that you won't disappoint me.

[It's firm, but not harsh; it's good, in the end, to have Plumeria here, even if she doesn't understand the logistics of how...]

We ought to acquaint ourselves with the vessel in the meantime. Shall we?

[Plumeria brings herself back up easily at Freyja's words, nodding her head. She absolutely won't disappoint Lady Freyja; she did it once before, surely, when she died. It's a mistake Plumeria refuses to allow herself to make again.]

Yes, that will certainly be prudent, Lady Freyja. Let us be off.

[Feel free to lead the way; following Lady Freyja like this is...nostalgic, really. A reminder of simpler times, when all she had to do to make Freyja happy was follow her orders.]

[...Weird metal grate in here aside, she hasn't been anywhere near that hallway down there yet, so...]

Did you find yourself unharmed when you realized you were here? It would be for the best to know now if you're unwell.

[personal profile] paucipan 2021-01-24 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Down the hallway we go, then!! Plumeria does look around while they walk, ever vigilant; mostly just for anything that might be watching them, or could clue them in further, but...

Lady Freyja's question gets Plumeria to pause.]

...Physically, I was unharmed.

[mentally, uh. we're not gonna get into...that...besides, lady freyja is fine now so that's not gonna be a problem at all!!]

...But I don't feel any of my magic here. At all. I haven't seen my Flower of Plenty since awakening, and it's...

Well, concerning to say the least. [Plumeria looks to Lady Freyja, though.] ...What of yourself, Lady Freyja? Are you quite alright?

[Plumeria's still so confused about how Lady Freyja is here, after all she did to save her and Triandra. She's hoping it's not as obvious on her face as she thinks it is.]
dokkalfheimr: (Default)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-01-24 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[She'll pause then, regarding Plumeria for a long moment.]

...As much as one can be, yes. My own magic is distant from me, however; I cannot sense it here. It troubles me somewhat.
paucipan: (🌹 that buried me in your bed)

[personal profile] paucipan 2021-01-24 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[...That is troubling. Deeply so, but...well, with everything considered, is it that much of a surprise? Plumeria is only here because--]

...Yes, I can understand that much. It seems whatever filthy creatures dragged us here managed to ensure that we were powerless.

[Plumeria's look darkens at that again. It reminds her of those feeble times, of times long passed before she accepted the nectar and became something more. Plumeria's fists clench by her side.]

This filthy hovel of human excess is only getting worse by the second.

Remain steadfast, Plumeria. It will be all right.

[It isn't a scolding; there's something gentler behind it. Encouragement, almost.]

I can promise you that whomever has brought us here - whomever has done this to us - will not escape unscathed. We will find them, and we will seal them, and we will ensure they never wake again. Perpetual nightmares, until the debt is repaid.

We will have that much.
paucipan: (🌹 i know the sickening thoughts)

[personal profile] paucipan 2021-01-24 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah...Lady Freyja is right. She always is, after all. Plumeria isn't blind to the encouragement in the other woman's tone. How could she be? It's something that's kept her moving for a long time, and it's validation. That her feelings are right, that they'll make sure this cretin stays sealed forever when all is said and done. A nightmare unending.]

...Yes, of course. My apologies, Lady Freyja; I fear I am letting my detest of humans get in the way. I will correct that.

[Because Lady Freyja is right. They will have their vengeance at the end of all of this; Plumeria is certain of that.]

...I'm certain that once we get back, Triandra will want a hand in all of those involved's eternal demise as well. I doubt that she is pleased with us being gone.

[This is easier to talk about, at least. And who knows, maybe Triandra will express an emotion with her face for once.]

[Oh, poor Triandra - she's likely terribly lost and Fucking Mad About It right about now, isn't she.]

I imagine she's terribly displeased, yes. She can have her time with whomever she chooses after this; she deserves something for the trouble, if nothing else.

[Absolutely. Truly, we have abandoned our girl to the wolves. She's gonna be listening to Líf without any sort of impulse control, and really, what's a worse fate???]

I'm certain that she'll appreciate it.

[Of course, as they've been wandering, Plumeria's been taking stock of all of this...mess, really. It does seem like there's at least a few rooms, now that they've made it this far, but...

Well, Plumeria's eyes catch sight of the room full of vending machines, and it certainly gives her a pause. Ah...]

...Lady Freyja, do you know what any of these are?

[There's. There's so much going on here.]
dokkalfheimr: (08.)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-01-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
...I've seen similar devices, in dreams of a world that neither of us belong to.

[Hmmmmm.]

Not that I'm certain what they do; the glimpses I caught were fleeting.

[There are numbers on the keypad, numbers on the...whatever's in here, do we want to see if they correspond. Do we want to obtain a shitty t-shirt. Is that what we're doing.]
paucipan: (🌹 go on and fool me)

[personal profile] paucipan 2021-01-25 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
...Huh. They're certainly quite unusual looking.

[Anyway, you bet that's what we're going to be doing!! Plumeria is just kinda gonna. Go to the machine with the shirts and input one of those sets of numbers in there, just for curiosity's sake, and...

...Well, out pops a hell of a gaudy looking cruise shirt. Plumeria just kind of unfolds it and looks at it, and just.]

...I'm not sure what's more impressive. That a human came up with this gaudy thing, or that they actually think people would wear this.

[Plumeria sounds amused, honestly?? Oh dear gods.]

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-01-25 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Freyja, meanwhile, has found one that is not doing the best job of telling her what's in it, just a bunch of labels down the side that mean little to her; pressing one will get...!

...A can of some sort with a tab, which she sets about immediately to trying to pry open.]

The humans seem to have been up to all sorts of strange things with regards to the things they make. The clothing is downright appalling, however...

[The can proceeds to hiss at her as she gets it open; she takes a moment to sniff at the opening before just...deciding to take a sip of it and experiencing the wonder that is Sprite for the first time.

...holy shit.]

...That is vile.

[personal profile] paucipan 2021-01-25 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Plumeria looks over when the can practically hisses at Lady Freyja, perplexed for a brief moment--how on earth could that thing have made such a sound? Is it alive? ...No, it couldn't be, that'd just be silly, but...

...Eugh, Plumeria's used to pretty sweet, cloying scents but she can somehow smell that nonsense from here, what is that.]

Ugh, I can practically smell it from here--it smells cloying. And this is something that humans like?

[hey humanity? what the fuck??]

It smells like something that would be more at home in Ljósálfheimr...
dokkalfheimr: (10.)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-01-25 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[...God, Freyr would have absolutely at least tolerated the chemical experience that is 7up, wouldn't he.]

Oh, I've no doubt they would enjoy it there. It's horridly sweet.

[And so it was that the fairies were introduced to high fructose corn syrup.

Verdict: Hm! Gross.]

...Although now that Ljósálfheimr is in my thoughts, I do wonder why none of them seem to be with us here.

[...Why did this...whatever it is hit only Dökkálfheimr, in other words.]
paucipan: (🌹 that buried me in your bed)

[personal profile] paucipan 2021-01-25 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[High fructose corn syrup: another one of humanity's mistakes.

...Still, that. That right there is an excellent point and Plumeria looks to Lady Freyja with some definite concern.]

...Yeah, now that you mention it...I'm wondering that too. Do you think they might be aligned with Ljósálfheimr, then? Or...

[Perhaps another enemy is Plumeria's thought, but she doesn't finish it. Those damned humans--the ones who killed Lady Freyja. The thought of them sends a spike of something unpleasant through Plumeria.]
dokkalfheimr: (Default)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-01-25 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
...No. Not Ljósálfheimr. Freyr wouldn't have... He would never.

[She's quiet for a moment once that's out there, though.]

So many people brought here without choice or option... Most from different paths of life.

It seems almost like the work of a summoner, does it not?
paucipan: (🌹 i know the gluttonous guilt)

[personal profile] paucipan 2021-01-25 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[A summoner. Plumeria grits her teeth at that, understanding what Lady Freyja means. And bluntly put, Plumeria is seeing red.]

Yeah. Yeah, it does. If anything could manage that sort of feat, it would be a summoner.

[...]

And it wouldn't be a far fetched assumption to say that it might have been Askr's, would it?

[It seems like the easiest place to pin blame, at this point, and boy is she already pissed at them for what happened.]
dokkalfheimr: (10.)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-01-26 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[She doesn't like it either, Plumeria, trust her.]

Askr's summoner is certainly one with the power to do something like this. Their power is certainly immense... If anything, I would be unsurprised if that summoner is one of the few who could manage it.

[G r e a t]

...Just what on earth would they have us do? Haven't they done enough and gotten what they wanted?
dokkalfheimr: (Default)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-01-26 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
...I would think that they've taken more than enough from us by now.

[To put it more gently than they deserve.]

If this is what we believe it to be, then we must absolutely ensure that they suffer due retribution for what they've done. I see no reason nor a need to offer them mercy.
