COMMENCE VOYAGE
Fun Fact: Did you know the Atlantic Ocean has a surface area of 41.1 million square miles? No reason.
...
There's something uneasy in the air as you come to.
Well, "come to" is an interesting word in this case. It implies waking up, which is not exactly what happens. None of you are in beds, nor are you really asleep in the traditional sense. One moment you're somewhere else, doing something else with your time, and the next? You're somewhere on board a massive cruise ship - maybe lounging on a deck chair by the pool, maybe getting some Gains in the exercise room, maybe enjoying the tasteful dรฉcor in the buffet - and you have no idea how you got here or how you might get back. This is not your beautiful house. If you have a beautiful wife, she isn't here.
What you do have, apart from 25 other unlucky souls, is a small smartphone-like device in your pocket with only a handful of things on it: a clock reading 11PM, a pdf of a ticket in your name on a special Atlantic Liners New Year's Eve Cruise, an app labeled Passenger Profiles with some basic information on your traveling companions, and a message:
Welcome aboard, passenger! Please feel free to partake of any of the facilities while you wait for the big event! Remember: when midnight comes, you better make your way to the theatre at the back of Level 1 for the main event! The Captain and the First Mate will be there to take care of you all personally, and to help you ring in the new year in style!
Well, that's a start. But what you do until then, it seems, is up to you!

[What even is a human? But, well, nice of humans to include him, really, and he'll make sure to thank them, but next time he sure would like to be asked to join, not to be forced!
Strange and stiff but Filbo really appreciates the offer! He doesn't expect she will be able to help him, but hey, she offered]
I guess it'd be too much to ask for directions to go home.
[Filbo laughs kind of emptily at that. Having said that brings something to mind]
...can I even get home? I doubt I'm anywhere near home, so...I guess I'm out of luck even if I get off this ship.

[...God does this one even know what a human is. Well, at the very least, she can tell him just how they are so he can keep himself safe. He's clearly not used to this--maybe a world with no humans? Gods, what a beautiful world that would be to deal with...]
If I knew, I'd give them to you. I imagine the place you come from is far more pleasant than any realm populated by humans. [Even so, Plumeria nods her head.] But come on, don't go losing hope or something silly like that. If they brought us here, then there has to be a way to get back. That's just the way that it is.
[Plumeria, you are the worst person to try and give a pep talk, but. Sure, you know what, go for it.]
We'll just have to wait and see what these filthy freaks bring, but I do like our odd. So don't go worrying about being out of luck.

Maybe it's because Filbo is an optimistic person by nature that this pep talk, even if it's from Plumeria, does work on him. Right...if he got here somehow, then he can go back, one way or another]
I hope so. I have important duties at home, so I can't spend too much time in here. People will wonder where I am if I don't return before the morning.

[i mean, what's the worst that could happen???]
...What exactly is it that you do, anyway?

[That's when Filbo notices his sash, still wet, is all twisted and not showing his job properly. Embarrassed, he fixes it, until it finally shows in capital letters 'MAYOR']
I'm the mayor of my city! Well, recently elected mayor -- almost two months ago. Filbo Fiddlepie, at your service.
[Filbo sounds so damn proud]

Ah, so that's why you need to get home. That does make sense--you wouldn't want to cause your people to worry. That's responsible of you.
[...This is surprisingly cute, what the fuck, but well--]
Nice to meet you, Mayor Fiddlepie. You can just call me Plumeria.

[His worries that maybe these beings were dangerous of unfriendly have vanished by now, it seems]
Yeah! And even if it...isn't really my fault I'm here, nobody at home is going to believe any of this. For many reasons. I'll get fired if too much time passes and I'm not there, anyway.
[Filbo seems rather worried about it]
I don't want them to think giving me a chance was wrong.
[Don't get him wrong, he's pretty worried for the city and the people's wellbeing, but there's also quite a personal stake on the matter too. Probably to an unhealthy extent]

...Well, come on then. What are we waiting for? If we're going to get back home, then we need to get a move on in trying to find our way out. There's bound to be something here that the people in charge of this place didn't think of.
Let's get moving, then. We'll get everyone back to where they belong so they don't have a reason to do that.
[There's plenty to explore, after all.]

[Time to start working. Filbo is a silly and easygoing person by nature, but he knows when it's time to be serious]
I dunno if this Captain is gonna say anything we wanna hear, so finding answers by ourselves will be necessary. Finding out where the ship's going should be a good starting point. If this is a tourist ship there should be maps somewhere, or those tourist pamphlets? Once we know where this is going, getting home will be easier.
[Alas, later they'd find out there would be no disembarking anywhere, but at the time? This did seem like a good idea to him, really. Small steps at a time until the objective is fulfilled, yup!]
