COMMENCE VOYAGE
Fun Fact: Did you know the Atlantic Ocean has a surface area of 41.1 million square miles? No reason.
...
There's something uneasy in the air as you come to.
Well, "come to" is an interesting word in this case. It implies waking up, which is not exactly what happens. None of you are in beds, nor are you really asleep in the traditional sense. One moment you're somewhere else, doing something else with your time, and the next? You're somewhere on board a massive cruise ship - maybe lounging on a deck chair by the pool, maybe getting some Gains in the exercise room, maybe enjoying the tasteful décor in the buffet - and you have no idea how you got here or how you might get back. This is not your beautiful house. If you have a beautiful wife, she isn't here.
What you do have, apart from 25 other unlucky souls, is a small smartphone-like device in your pocket with only a handful of things on it: a clock reading 11PM, a pdf of a ticket in your name on a special Atlantic Liners New Year's Eve Cruise, an app labeled Passenger Profiles with some basic information on your traveling companions, and a message:
Welcome aboard, passenger! Please feel free to partake of any of the facilities while you wait for the big event! Remember: when midnight comes, you better make your way to the theatre at the back of Level 1 for the main event! The Captain and the First Mate will be there to take care of you all personally, and to help you ring in the new year in style!
Well, that's a start. But what you do until then, it seems, is up to you!

[Well, regardless, no point in getting bummed about it]
You...really don't have anything like photos back at home?

And I suppose this ship could be powered by this blastia technology, right? Because if so, maybe we're near wherever you're from.
[Knowing one's location is a good first step, he figures, so he's trying to find answers on that regard]

[Though it is a bit of a stretch... Cruise ships in Terca Lumireis are both a wonderful and horrible idea.]
It would have to be a very powerful blastia, though. I imagine we won't be able to find it anywhere easily accessible.

[...]
Now that I think about it...I haven't seen a crew.

[In which case they made a bad choice with Filbo. Don't give him most roles available, thanks.
Not because he's object -- he'd take any task with enthusiasm, really -- but because he's not good at many things]

[rip us......]

[Filbo takes a deep breath. He doesn't know about the situation he's in, but...hey, he's a mayor. Not of this ship nor...anywhere close to this sea, probably, but he can't go backing down from a clearly unfavorable situation]
But we don't have a choice if that's the case. We're going to need food, supplies, lodgings, and maintenance for the ship. There's a buffet, but that's not going to last more than a few hours before it spoils. If we don't get access to any storages on the ship we're in trouble, so locating those just in case should be priority.
[Filbo sounds determined. Not authoritative because he's nobody to be giving orders around to anyone here, but hey, at least it seems that, despite not looking like someone who stands his ground and face trouble head-on, he's trying]
...I mean, I'm not saying you should go and do that or anything, but if you could keep an eye open for that it'd be great. Just in case.
no subject
Oh no, I know! I don't take orders from anyone.
[...usually.]
You've certainly thought this out, and those are all very good points! We'll need to see if we can get everyone here to cooperate long enough to make sure things go as smoothly as they can.

[You don't get to be a good mayor if you let people walk all over you like it used to happen in the past. Filbo really is in the process of finding his own spine]
That's not going to be easy unless something really bad happens. I was once in an expedition crew of twelve people and at least eight of us were at each other's throats constantly. Here we have at least double the amount. I'll be surprised if we all get along.
[Funnily enough, this group here will probably get along far better than the expedition group to Snaktooth Island other than the weekly murder. Filbo will be surprised, haha]
no subject
That certainly is true, ja. My guild members are usually able to work well together, but there was one who simply couldn't get along with anyone for any length of time...
[He's not going to mention that that guy killed his other dudes like. so often. Filbo does not need to know that.]
We're quite a strange lot here, so I imagine it'll be difficult for the majority of us to work together!
no subject
[Are you a leeeeeader? A fellow leader among your people/group/anything?]
Maybe if the worst happens someone should try to keep everyone together. I mean, I doubt everybody will like it, but everyone going their own way can only end badly.
[He knows from experience]
It's not even necessary to give orders, just...trying to watch over others so they'll be fine would be good enough.
no subject
[That part gets a nod as well.]
While it may not prove very useful in getting everyone to cooperate, I think it would be good to gather everyone together to see just how we get along as a group. We can discuss what we've found here or what we last remember to make sure we're all on the same page.
What do you think?

[Yeager kind of reminds him of someone else who once led him and others, yup. It's the kind of charisma that draws people to them. Or maybe it is that Filbo is easily impressed by bold, interesting people. It could be that too]
That's going to have to work. Well, I better see if I can find something good before midnight. Nice meeting you!
[Filbo throws away the last of the confetti, and adds before leaving:]
Also...please don't hit me with confetti again. Please? Thanks!
[Filbo hopes he won't go through that again, unaware it'll be a short while before Alice hits him with confetti too. Seriously, shards of paper stick to him more than it should]
no subject
I'll try not to!
[That. That isn't even a promise???? Good luck, Filbo...]
