COMMENCE VOYAGE
Fun Fact: Did you know the Atlantic Ocean has a surface area of 41.1 million square miles? No reason.
...
There's something uneasy in the air as you come to.
Well, "come to" is an interesting word in this case. It implies waking up, which is not exactly what happens. None of you are in beds, nor are you really asleep in the traditional sense. One moment you're somewhere else, doing something else with your time, and the next? You're somewhere on board a massive cruise ship - maybe lounging on a deck chair by the pool, maybe getting some Gains in the exercise room, maybe enjoying the tasteful décor in the buffet - and you have no idea how you got here or how you might get back. This is not your beautiful house. If you have a beautiful wife, she isn't here.
What you do have, apart from 25 other unlucky souls, is a small smartphone-like device in your pocket with only a handful of things on it: a clock reading 11PM, a pdf of a ticket in your name on a special Atlantic Liners New Year's Eve Cruise, an app labeled Passenger Profiles with some basic information on your traveling companions, and a message:
Welcome aboard, passenger! Please feel free to partake of any of the facilities while you wait for the big event! Remember: when midnight comes, you better make your way to the theatre at the back of Level 1 for the main event! The Captain and the First Mate will be there to take care of you all personally, and to help you ring in the new year in style!
Well, that's a start. But what you do until then, it seems, is up to you!

Nnno...?
[ Hm. Well, this is weird. This doesn't look like any monster he's seen before, and it's talking, so... ]
So are you a Centurion, or...?
[ Not like he ever actually saw most of them after they were hatched, so who knows!! Though if the answer ends up being yes, he might need to tread a little carefully. ]
no subject
Sorry, I'm kinda confused. I had never met, well, anyone like you?
no subject
[ ...Honestly, what the fuck are Centurions, they're not monsters or summon spirits. No one really gave him these details, they're just Ratatosk's Dudes Who Are Sometimes Dormant Orbs. ]
...Yeah, it doesn't matter! Anyway, if you're not one, I guess I've never met anyone like you either. Where is it that you're from?
no subject
But I mean, it's not like it's the only place! We're all over the planet, so... [Filbo hesitates before saying:] ...it's more surprising nobody has met anyone like you before. The news would spread like wildfire all over the world.
no subject
I mean, humans have been all over both Sylvarant and Tethe'alla forever too, so... do neither of those ring a bell?
no subject
[...but to not be aware of each other's species' existence? That's something else altogether and a reason for concern]
I dunno, I think there's something I'm not catching here. Something's wrong.

[It's not that he doesn't believe Decus! It's more than he's overwhelmed with the ship and situation and other sapient species and what not, Decus keeps moving like he's a mime inside an invisible box, and there's this faint scent in the air which he's sure comes from Decus.
It's too much for his poor head to deal with at once, hah!]
Well, obviously someone brought us here. Apparently for a New Year celebration. In that case...why to reach into different worlds? Wouldn't it make more sense to just...bring people from the same world and the same town or something like that?
This feels a bit random.
no subject
Anyway, it's not like he knows much of anything about other worlds either, he just knows the elves came from Derris-Kharlan, so it stands to reason that there could be other places out there in space with intelligent life too! Though it's... kind of weird that they'd be speaking the same language like this...? Huh. ]
Right? Different worlds probably have completely different calendars anyway. It definitely isn't the beginning of the year where I'm from, so...
...Crap, maybe we really are on another planet.
[ THANKFULLY HE IS AT LEAST AWARE OF ALICE'S PROFILE BY NOW or else he would be freaking out about the prospect of living in a world without her. ]
no subject
[Filbo is hoping that it's going to be easier than it sounds at first, but there's a line between optimism and delusion. He doesn't have his hopes up too much]
no subject
[ It seemed pretty instantaneous, after all. He looks thoughtful about this for a few seconds, but then he shrugs. ]
...Well, it doesn't really matter to me what world I'm in as long as Alice is there too. I've still got to find her, so... you're good, right?
[ Because this has been both an informative and weird talk, but he needs to peace out in a second here and get back to his search... ]
no subject
[Filbo definitely is the kind to die if left in the wilderness for a few hours, but he should be fine while on the boat. Probably. Hopefully.
Maybe?]
If I see this Alice before you do I'll tell you. What's she to you, anyway?
[Someone important, clearly enough! But how important, hm?]
no subject
[ He lights up at this opportunity... He can spare one more minute if it's to gush about Alice. ]
She's the one to whom I've pledged my heart and soul, my reason for living!! Here...!
[ He quickly pulls out his phone and brings up her profile image, which is still right there on the screen as soon as it lights up. (He is never scrolling beyond this.)
He holds it up, beaming with pride and fondness!! He won't expect someone unfamiliar with humans to understand their beauty standards well enough to recognize that he's looking at the most perfect woman in the universe here, so he'll let it slide this time if the picture doesn't get the awed reaction it deserves. ]
This is her, so— if you do see her, tell her that her Decus is looking for her and will be with her soon!
no subject
Alright. With that color scheme finding her will be easy. Don't worry, I'll tell her Decus will be waiting at the deck!
[Filbo, was that absolutely necessary? He probably isn't going to be at a deck. Filbo laughs sheepishly, embarrassed he even said such a thing, but yeah, he won't tell her a bad wordplay pun]
You can count on me -- I'll tell her you'll be with her soon. This Alice surely will be relieved to hear that.
[Filbo will find her when she pops a confetti popper right on him, yeah. May as well tell her that once that happens]
no subject
What? I mean, I'm going to be searching for her myself, so I don't know if that's where I'll be by then, but...
[ Somehow he has gone his whole life without hearing this particular pun, and it sails right over his head. ]
...Well, as long as she knows I'm nearby! Thanks, you're a pal.
[ Pats... however much of a shoulder he has?? ]
I'll see you around.
no subject
Nice meeting you!
[See you around, Decus. Don't get blasted by party poppers to the face when you find her!]
