So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

[ Jasper's bedroom door slides open halfway through Part of Your World! She stands in her doorway for a solid five seconds before walking back in, never to be seen again.

no okay she comes out like thirty seconds later with a look of profound annoyance, a gingerbread house, and a single bottle of BBQ sauce, which she just kind of dumps with the rest of the snacks before stalking out of the lounge entirely.

Several hours later, she comes back. It's Les Miserables! Hugh Jackman must answer to Javert! How is it not over yet. She observes for a moment, eyes narrowed, before speaking to nobody. ]

Why are they always singing.

It's a musical, Jasper. Have you ever heard of culture?

[hardnosed]

If this is what passes for it on earth, I'll pass. Have you ever heard them?

[ She stares pointedly at the screen before her, where Russel Crowe is doing A Lot. ]

A bad performance doesn't nullify the medium or the genre, you pea-counter. Not that it explains how popular this adaptation was at the time, but I don't know if anything does.

So even for what it is, this is garbage. Is that why you're talking through the entire broadcast?

Oh, you've heard of theatre etiquette, but not musicals.

[hardnosed]

I've heard of basic protocol.

[ And she makes the active choice to avoid using it in almost every single case! ]

Somehow I doubt that.

[hardnosed]

You doubt all the wrong things. And you're still talking.

And you're still being a nuisance.

Ugh. If I stop talking, will you shut up?

Because singing is how they express themselves! I think.

Who decided they needed to express anything?

That's what they do to be memorable! A good song stays in your head like a parasite. You will remember it over and over in the middle of the night.

[hardnosed]

Indoctrination, huh. Who are these broadcasts even for?

[From the back of the room, Alice spies a certain gem bringing an...odd assortment of food to the snack table. She raises an eyebrow, and then follows Jasper into the hall.]

Hey! You're not coming to movie night?

[hardnosed]

Pass. I've got better things to do than sit and watch that drivel.

[ She absolutely does not, at all, and the fact that she immediately stopped to respond to Alice instead of going to do something better is a pretty fair indication. ]

[precognit]

Oh yeah?

[target: locked]

Like what?

[hardnosed]

[ uhhhhhh ]

I don't need to explain myself! What does it matter to you, anyway?

[precognit]

[she knew it]

It doesn't, really. Just thought you might want to try something different.

[hardnosed]

[ oh no she's phrasing it as something that would be cowardly to turn down

... I've heard singing before. What's so special about this?

[precognit]

It's not just singing. It's a story! It's...at least a distraction from being stuck here, for a little while.

[hardnosed]

So it's not just singing. It's singing that makes us passive.

[precognit]

There's nothing wrong with relaxing, Jasper.

[hardnosed]

Maybe for you. But I'm not about to just let myself go soft in this place.
