So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

[ Well... she sure is here, with dog in tow! Daisy has learned by now that she should not go up to people she doesn't know, so she's sitting in Mira's lap. Daisy looks very happy to be here, but Mira? Does not.

.... we're ignoring that though!! ]

I... mostly looked around in the library. Um, the crime section had some how-tos, but nothing about murder. [ Luckily! ] There was information on other sorts of crime, though... and examples that are very real in my world.

...That last part is interesting. How do you mean?

Well... I'm not sure if anyone but I am familiar with him, but DB Cooper's work in particular was very... [ She thinks for a moment. ] To put it lightly, it was torn apart. He was an unidentified man--DB Cooper is an alias--who hijacked a plane between the states of Oregon and Washington in the 1970s. He extorted quite a bit of money as ransom, and then parachuted out of the plane, but no one has ever found him or figured out his true identity.

...I'm actually aware of DB Cooper, believe it or not. I'm not sure whether he's a universal constant or not, but that was kind of a big story when I was a kid. I don't remember it very well, though, I think I was nine?

Ah, really?

[ ... actually, you know what, she should start taking notes. So she pulls the notepad out of her pocket, and writes down her and Birkin's name under Earth/Variations. ]

I only learned of him through a history class... We at least have a point of reference for some of us, though.

...Not that this'll make anything less confusing, but I...recognize the name too.

[ She's written down Della's name on her list, but she adds a note there. ]

I wonder what else our Earths have in common, then...

Besides famous art, the possibilities are endless.

...I'm from 1998, for what it's worth. September. I'm pretty sure I'm well behind whatever's going on here.

At the very least, 1998 is quite far in my past... I'm from 2019.

[ She makes a note of Birkin's year! ]

It was mid-April of 2028 for me, before I woke up here. But Angel tells me that right now, in this "world," we're in the year 2020. It isn't as though I have any frame of reference to disprove that, like any books that are contradictory from the library, but I also can't imagine why she would lie about the year?

Library? You find something else?

[ Della, at the moment, doesn't really look more bothered than usual. Instead, she's watching everyone else. ]

I searched over the bookshelves. Found a hidden compartment in the psychology section, but of course it needs a key. Besides that, there was, uh...well, this thing. [ She sets the atlas on the table, opening it to the bookmarked page. ] The rest of it was unremarkable. But, but! The...the places, all circled on here? I don't know about all of your homes. But, back on my Earth, these places are like...tourist destinations. Mostly. No little places, all just big ones.

[philoxenia]

[ Huh. ]

A few things, mostly what I spoke about-- um, though there were accounts of various social psychology experiments. [ A pause, and she looks at the atlas. ] Oh, I know these places! They're tourist destinations for my Earth, too.

Some of the city names are a little...different for me. But, do they look right to you?

They're correct for me. [ But, she's curious-- ] Different how?

[nothingcanstop]

Oh, just names- as some of you have probably realized, where I'm from we kind of...have a theme with the names of our places, people...

[ the duck puns, mira. it's missing the duck puns. ]

But it's all pretty similar.

[ ah, the duck puns. that really fits the bill. ]

Ah, then our Earths are similar? [ ... It occurs to her what Della might mean, then. ] It's interesting, though... Out of all the places in all the universes, we're familiar with what's been found in the library.

...It gives me the feeling that the Professor's from some kind of Earth as well.

That's what I thought, too...

[ ... ]

It's a shame we can't be sure what sort of Earth he's from... but, I'm curious.

All we can know for sure is that it's...well, one like most of yours. With humans and all that.

[ A nod. ]

That narrows it down a little bit, at least.

You said it was... "tourist destinations" that were circled?

Yerp, those are the kinda places. Why?

Then what you've found may say less about the Professor than his assistant.

...Angel's fondest dream is to see the world once this experiment concludes.

Maybe I should try bringing this up with her.
