So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

— Don't think I'm hiding from this. [ Literally nobody said anything of the sort. ] I'll be there. Doesn't mean I'm interested in making friends.

I'm not talking about making friends. [ Though, she does think that's important, all of them having some kind of camaraderie, you know. ] I'm talking bout working together. We can do so much more together than we can apart.

[hardnosed]

Ugh, I know that. [ And she really does! The raw frustration in her voice speaks to the inevitability of that particular conclusion. ] That doesn't mean I have to like it.

[ In this house, self-hating, self-pitying dumbass hours are 24/7 and accepting help is Never Going To Happen! ]

None of this is how it's supposed to be.

[ After a moment, Della sighs. ]

I know. But...life doesn't turn out like we expect it to sometimes. Believe me, I know that. The more we work together, the more we can get back to that, to...normal.

[hardnosed]

You really think that? [ This is only half implicit argument! The other half is an actual question. ] That everyone's gonna make it out of this hole if we just — cooperate long enough?

[ And she looks wildly serious. ]

I think it can't hurt anything to try. It's better than all of us going at it alone.

[hardnosed]

Hmmph. [ Easy for someone shorter than a Ruby to say, she thinks, pettily. But despite all the inherent rudeness, there's a sizable pause between that and her followup. ] We'll see.

[ And she's off to her room! ]

[ ...Huh. Della stares after her, and then nods. ]

Well. It sure seems like she's trying, at least!

[ Sure. That's something to take from this conversation. Why not. ]
