So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

[Therion considers that, then closes the washing machine door and looks at her.]

It's in the room with the... vending machine. I'll have to show you where it is. You coming?

[ Well, it's not like anyone is going to steal her clothes, she figures. Rin nods, moving to stand by the door while she waits for him to lead the way. ]

[He takes her over to the western wall of the vending machine room--the wall shared with that weird, unlabeled space on the map. After skimming his hands over the surface of the wall, he points out the hairline gaps that outline what might be a door.]

Here. It's bolted on both sides.

[ Rin hums out a noise that might be impressed. ]

Wow, good catch. [ She runs a hand over the opposite edge of the maybe-door to confirm for herself. ] I've been thinking there must be a control room of some sort somewhere in this place, but that's just the first guess that comes to mind... Maybe someone should try camping out here to see if it ever opens.

Would a "control room" hum like those machines in the other room? The laundering room, I mean.

[He'll catch up to all you sprightly whippersnappers and your tech jargon eventually...]

It could. There are a lot of machines you can hear humming if you have one that's big enough, or enough in one place. If it sounds kind of like the laundry room, though, there's almost definitely something mechanical inside... The question is just what it is.

...Well, it's here. [He waves at the probably-door.] I can't open it right now with what I have, but you're welcome to keep watch if you want.

[ She nods at that, but— ]

What, you don't want to try taking shifts?

[ The question sounds good-natured enough, actually. ]

Not particularly.

[But because she's actually, like... not antagonizing him, he adds:]

There are other rooms I'm more interested in at the moment.

Is that so? I just thought you might feel like you have some stake in it, since you're the one who found it.

[Heh.]

Seeing something first doesn't make it mine. If I'm the first one in... that's a different story.

Hm, if that's how you see it, I guess. I have a hard time letting things go unfinished myself.

What other rooms have your attention right now, then? So I know I'm not retreading old ground.

...It's not exactly a place I can lay claim to, either. But I try to drop by the big meeting room now and then.

Like I said, I'm just trying to coordinate. We're in this together whether we like it or not.

You think... What? Something will show up when we're not looking?

Or someone.

[ She nods. ]

Makes sense. The Professor mentioned on-site staff, but we haven't seen anyone here other than that girl.

And she never seems to come out.

Have you gone to talk with her? I haven't cared to, but... I wonder what the inside of her office is like. If it's something she could sleep in, or if she has living quarters somewhere else, you know?

You want to know if she sleeps in there? Why?

Well, there's those two doors we can't open, right? I've been wondering where they lead to. My best guess is that one of them leads to living quarters for whatever staff is needed to keep this place running, and if there's no apparent place for her to sleep otherwise, that would be a point in favor of that idea.

...

[Rin has a point.]

There's a door at the back of her office. She said it only led to her room. And that it wasn't much different than the ones we have.

So, assuming she's telling the truth, whatever personnel are here might have rooms that connect directly to their working space. I wonder if that means her office also has a direct line to the kitchen, since she doesn't seem to leave it at all... [ hm hm ] Actually, for that matter, if it is a real person in the kitchen, I guess that would probably mean they have sleeping quarters connected there too? Maybe that's why we're not allowed in...

[ She's obviously just thinking aloud at this point. ]

She did say she had a little kitchen in her room, but she'd still need to get things to cook... Hidden passages for servants, maybe.

Right. Which means—

[ She slaps her hand against the hidden doorway. ]

It all comes back to this. We should definitely be on the lookout for more hidden doors like this one.

Heh. [He puts a hand on one hip.] You don't have to tell me that. I found this one, didn't I?
