Probably a good idea to go check and see if anything happened while you all were asleep. You might not have to go very far at all.

[ Huh, that's weird. Is it closer to the top or bottom of the stairs? And how big/deep is it? ]

[ Eh, somewhere in the middle. And it's not deep, maybe made by a relatively small object? It's tough to say, but it's here. ]
