WEEK 6

Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Three more of your number gone - or four, depending on your point of view. But regardless, you're down three bodies. The boat is getting less crowded, week by week. A loneliness only exacerbated by yet another new floor, and yet another section of topdeck. There are almost too many facilities for you to use by now, aren't there? And yet the amenities keep on coming. One of them is even personalized, this time, and perhaps not in a way you're fully comfortable with.

Who knows, maybe if your number falls enough, you'll be able to just exist permanently on the different floors. Might keep you out of the trial room for more than a week.

Are you at the point where you'd settle for that yet?

And if you look to the horizon, out in the distance... there are clouds starting to gather on the horizon this week.

...A sound strategy, if a morbid one. [like, just snap his arms off, because lelouch zero lamperouge is not your man in a fistfight] We'll have to consider it further where we won't be overheard, you're right.

It could be morbid, yes. If could get the jump on him in a group it could be quite bloodless, though. [Like. They could just like tie him up. About that--

She glances away briefly. Right. There was something she probably should have told him. Probably before a potential next meeting.]

I need to go the restroom. I'll be back later. I find them good places to think.

[aka they're good places to talk because a lack of cameras. But like. She's not going to ask a teenage boy to go with her to the bathroom. She hopes that he's smart enough to at least pick up on that message.]

[Fortunately, Zero was socially stupid but strategically smart. He waited a short while after she left--long enough to finish his coffee, at least--before packing up and wandering off to find which bathroom she'd gone off to.]

[She's in the women's bathroom on the same floor but just in front of the stalls.]

I've been thinking about what happened yesterday. That we found a way to Jack's office, even if we looked quite a lot before we never found a way before.

I think our benefactor helped with that. [Forget that she wasn't at the seance... probably someone told her about that.] Last week they told me they were looking for a way to find Jack.

You think it was more than a matter of Chloe happening to look in the right place? I suppose it's possible, inasmuch as anything could be at this point.

It could be both. The fact that they told me this before the seance also makes me think they're definitely gaining more power. Chloe might have just found a weakness that was apparently overlooked. Still, it seems suspicious to me.

Between all that and the clouds...it's all seeming like a convergence of sorts. As if lining up pieces on the board for a final showdown, or the feeling I get when the Black Knights and I enter a battlefield.

I don't have anything solid to base this off of, but I get the impression we're moving into the final stages one way or another.

I think I'm getting that feeling, too. It's like a chess game about to end. The question is who's king will be taken...

Lucky for us I've always been pretty good at chess. Turning things around in the last few moves might just be possible if we're exceptionally careful.

Good. I'm not bad at it myself but hopefully we can all keep it together until then.
