WEEK 6
Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.
Three more of your number gone - or four, depending on your point of view. But regardless, you're down three bodies. The boat is getting less crowded, week by week. A loneliness only exacerbated by yet another new floor, and yet another section of topdeck. There are almost too many facilities for you to use by now, aren't there? And yet the amenities keep on coming. One of them is even personalized, this time, and perhaps not in a way you're fully comfortable with.
Who knows, maybe if your number falls enough, you'll be able to just exist permanently on the different floors. Might keep you out of the trial room for more than a week.
Are you at the point where you'd settle for that yet?
And if you look to the horizon, out in the distance... there are clouds starting to gather on the horizon this week.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to week 6, everyone! Remember to turn in AC here and coins for regains over here! If you wish to get in contact with the npcs, Davy Jones is over here, and The Captain is over here! And as requested, profiles are accessible here. ]

Flayn looks out into the clouds and considers it.]
...We are in a very strange triangle that turns back time. It is definitely possible.
no subject
[He's glancing down at his phone again now.
He shouldn't think about how that future could be possible.]
no subject
But if you just look at someone's motive that's rude]
...If you do not mind, could I see the picture the Captain sent you? I can show you mine in exchange.
no subject
[He opens up his phone and shows an image.]
It's me, my cousin Tuuri, Kissa, and the group we traveled with. Sigrun was our leader, Mikkel was the cook and doctor, Emil helped fight trolls, and Reynir...he was kind of just there. And useless.
[He's pointing to each person in turn.]
1/2
[Which is a good thing. Obviously, anyone related to Lalli is good. She rummages in her pockets for her own device.]
2/2
That is my - well. I call him my brother, but in truth, he is my father. You should call him Seteth, if you ever meet him. He might be a little perturbed if you called him by his true name.
[But there's more people in the photo, and Flayn points to them in turn.] This is my Professor, Byleth. Behind her is my aunt, Rhea. And next to us are the three House Leaders from when I went to school, but...different. [Flayn pauses now, brow furrowed.] I think...this must be how they would have turned out, had we not needed to go to war.
[There's a woman with brown hair instead of white.] This would be Edelgard, Emperor of Adrestia.
[There's a blond man with significantly less weariness to his face, both eyes intact.] This would be Dimitri, King of Faerghus.
[And there's a man with a glint to his eyes clad in...well, clothes that do not seem quite in step with what everyone else is wearing, though no less fine.] And this would be Claude...Sovereign Duke of the Alliance, but...his clothes are nothing like any I have ever seen. Perhaps they are from his mysterious home that no one could seem to learn about.
[They're all...happy. At peace. There are others in the background, classmates and knights and parents and siblings, all together.]

[Not just her father, but everyone else too. Family isn't just blood, and even Lalli can see this is a family. And it makes his mouth turn downward in a thoughtful frown.]
Everyone here just wants their families to be happy, don't they?
[That must be why some of the people are different. It's a happier version of all of them.]
no subject
[But Rhea and Byleth are definitely the ones who look most like family, to Seteth and Flayn.]
I suppose so. But...that is not a bad thing to want.
no subject
[Lalli glances back to his own picture. He's one who keeps his heart close to his chest and never tells anyone what he's thinking, but it's clear that something is weighing heavy on his mind.]
Even if it's impossible, it's normal to wish for. But dreams of better days are just a distraction. It's better to accept the world for what it is than to keep thinking about what you would have done differently.
no subject
Flayn lets out a soft breath through her nose, looking back at her own photo.]
Perhaps that is true. I would not know what could go into making a world like this - what if the changes made were so incomprehensible that what I returned to was not Fodlan at all?
[How far back in time would Jack have to reach in order to make it so war never came, but the players of it remained? It is probably impossible.]
It could be nice to dream of, from time to time. But the real future...it shall just have to be emptier. And those of us who remain shall have to make up for it.
me, wheezing as I try to avoid adventure 2 spoilers
[Lalli is quiet for a long time, considering his picture. It's all still recent, but what would be different about his world?]
If we hadn't been attacked by that ghost, Tuuri would still be alive. But if we hadn't been attacked, Reynir wouldn't have found a way to save all of those ghosts, and thousands of ghosts would still be suffering in the Silent World. And if we hadn't been attacked, I wouldn't have learned to communicate with everyone else because I would still be relying on Tuuri to translate for me. Onni wouldn't have been convinced to leave Keuruu and try to stop a monster who has been harassing him and I for years. And everyone else, they would have kept being reckless and probably would have ended up on the wrong side of a troll attack eventually.
...I know it's better for all of us to be where we are now, but I still wish Tuuri was alive. It does feel emptier, and I don't want to have to make up for her not being here. I'm not strong enough to be two people at once, especially not for Onni.
I MEAN I'M ALL CAUGHT UP but that's valid
[This feels like the kind of thing where Flayn would offer a hug, but. Lalli doesn't seem like the kind of person who necessarily wants hugs? It's hard, to know how to offer comfort.]
Well. I do not know her, but...I would like to think Tuuri would not want you to feel as if you had to be anything more than yourself. Yourself can be enough. [A pause.] Why could you not communicate with everyone else?
no subject
But then she died, and I had to learn to talk to the others. Emil learned some Finnish, and I learned some Swedish, and that works out okay.
no subject
I did have to relearn a lot of Fodlanese, but apparently I still speak rather...archaically. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for you, if no one else even knew your language. Do you think...do you think it is possible that, when you return home, you will stay as you are now? Able to understand everyone, I mean.
[Things Flayn picked up on includes: we're all understandable to each other somehow.]
no subject
He looks at Flayn with wide eyes.]
Do you think it works like that?
no subject
[It's probably some kind of magic, it's fine.]
no subject
[He says this like it's the thing he has been looking forward to for his entire life.]
no subject
Well, yes, I suppose you could. Among other things.
no subject
We can keep talking too, without having to learn each other's languages.
no subject
You could also come and visit Fodlan, if you wanted, and not worry about having to learn the language.
no subject
[Please don't come to a zombie apocalypse world, Flayn.]
no subject
[Lalli they're still working on stuff they gotta like. Make it so there's no need for places like Abyss and start phasing out the emphasis on the Crest System, it's gonna be rough for a good while.]
no subject
...there's a lot of trolls, beasts, and giants in my world. Even in the safe areas, there's still the worry about an attack. It would give you nightmares.
no subject
[Hm, but testing...! Testing sounds scary!]
For the test...it would not. It is not...very invasive, is it?
no subject
[At least it's not a test of strength?]
They do it for newborns in my world, so it will be fine. ...but new nightmares still aren't fine.
