Another week, another three gone in the case alone, not to mention Chloe earlier in the week. Even as you gain access to another floor, the ship by now must be starting to feel more empty than ever. It's been a long time by now, approaching two months.

Where do you think you'll be, in two months more time?

Okay, consider this, then--what happens if you do get your ass kicked up there? S'not like we have anyone who could repair you--you'd be effectively dead 'til we could get you back. And with you gone, we'd be down an investigator. Our chances of survival would grow slimmer with each week.

[A pause. A small smirk worms its way onto his face--the telltale sign that he's just come up with a good argument and there's no way he's not going to use it.]

Nonetheless, I have been thinking a great deal about what Freyja said. She was incorrect. It was not her failings that have resulted in the deaths on this ship, but my own. I would like for that to change.

[How strange it is for your own thoughts to be vomited back to yourself to realize how stupid they are. Constantine, however, is very much not the person to convince people not to do things...so he shrugs, a look of faint irritation on his face.]

We could stand here all day and debate about how each of us could've, should've, would've, but I don't think any of us could have foreseen or prevented shit. But if you want to and get yourself killed, then don't let me stop you.

I am the only person who regularly patrols the ship. It is no one else's responsibility.

[It really isn't debatable that he has failed, greatly, every single week since the third. But - okay, that sounds like a dismissal.]

[Constantine gives Data a measured, if slightly puzzled gaze.]

What's gotten into you, anyways? Why is now the week that you've decided that you've failed?

[Constantine falls quiet again, rubbing the back of his neck.]

And now that Jack's closer than ever, you want to take matters into your own hands, or die trying. It's kind of a stupid bet to make.

I do not know if I can justify placing my own well-being above that of the others on this boat. At the very least, I have not been doing a great deal of that - Jack only recently became accessible.
