WEEK 7
Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.
Another week, another three gone in the case alone, not to mention Chloe earlier in the week. Even as you gain access to another floor, the ship by now must be starting to feel more empty than ever. It's been a long time by now, approaching two months.
Where do you think you'll be, in two months more time?
The clouds have begun to gather around the ship, this week.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to week 7, everyone! Remember to turn in AC here and coins for regains over here! If you wish to get in contact with the npcs, Davy Jones is over here, and The Captain is over here! And as requested, profiles are accessible here. ]

SUNDAY
investigation - workshop
Well, while the reasons behind it were unexpected, he decisively disliked Jack's response to it far more.
Either way, when he got up, the gathering of clouds was difficult to miss. So he decided it'd be best to attempt looking around in workshop. May as well see if there was something 'off' or hidden things, like somebody's heart [audiencelaughter.mp3]. You just never knew, right?
After that, Risotto could be found in one of his usual haunts, the library. He had a book with him to pass the time. ]
That man is a good-for-nothing, but at least there's nothing lacking in having some...entertainment.
[ Risotto never had anything good to say about Jack. But as far as he's concerned, they're all free to badmouth him as they like.
He then was found mid-day at the bar. This time he was making something to drink. ]
If you want something, I'm sure you can make it all on your own. [ ... ] Unless, of course, that something you 'want' is to discuss what happened recently, or what you believe our odds of success are now.
[ Not the most friendly way to begin a discussion, but he's never really been one for being 'pleasant'. ]
Library
[If all they had for entertainment were books some people around here would have murdered out of boredom, that's for sure]

Our odds of success, hmm... Well, we are down to half of our starting number, which doesn't look good. The Captain's going to continue to threaten or bribe us every week. We're going to continue to lose people. I'd say things really aren't any better this week than they've been in the past.
But we have several new areas to explore, and we continue to learn more about what's going on here. It's too early to give up, ja?

[ The kid's cartoon villain, who has consumed alcohol once during the course of the game, probably wasn't angling for a midday drink, but maybe she noticed the sound of activity! Maybe Magica sticks her head in once every other day at odd hours just to see if Jimmy Buffet will be looking directly at her when she does! ]
So are the ominous clouds.

Red royal katty for Carmen. Daffodils for Shard. Larkspur for Adeline. White bishop's lace for Allenby. Snapdragons for Sylvando. Sweet peas for Alice. Yarrow for Albedo. Gillyflower for Sara, which Emily watches over. Baby's breath for Lorna. Amaryllis for Chloe. Cornflowers for Decus. Plumerias for Plumeria. Gladiolus for Freyja. These she sets out in the cups, then puts Jimmy Bear next to Emily so she can step into the center, kneel, and pray, hands clasped around her staff.]
Oh, Goddess, hear my prayer - Grandmother, wherever you are, protect these souls whom we have lost. Let the Blue Sea Star shine through the darkest night, and guide them to your kingdom for shelter and peace. Allow them safe passage through the waters of worlds beyond...
[She goes on like that for a little while, quietly, asking for guidance and for those she loves back home to know, even if for a moment, some sort of reassurance of Flayn's own fate. She doesn't know if Sothis can hear her. She never thought to ask if Byleth could hear the prayers of the people, now that the Goddess lived within her. But she would like to think the message might get through, somehow. To someone.
With her prayers spoken, Flayn feels more comfortable venturing into the new portions of the ship that have been revealed to them. The kitchen is definitely something she's interested in, though she seems a bit hesitant to actually start cooking anything. While it is true Filbo promised to try her cooking...what if something terrible happened? What if it made him ill? She is not unaware of her status as a poor cook. So, instead of jumping right in as she might have done in earlier weeks, Flayn hesitantly checks out the ingredients instead, brow furrowed, as Emily sits on one of the counters and watches.
Oh, but you know what's actually the best thing ever? The aquarium. Flayn steps foot inside of it and you can just sense the euphoria at being surrounded by so many different fish. She has to run to the library and haul up a big picture book encyclopedia to start naming each and every creature she sees, telling Emily and Jimmy Bear their names.]
- And it says here that this is a clownfish, this orange one! And then this one is...a triggerfish? Oh, and that one there is a sea horse! I know it does not have fish in its name, but it is in fact a fish!
[Jimmy Bear has accepted that this is his life, as a malformed teddy in his maker's pocket. Emily is calmly intrigued, and we cannot discern the emotions of the teddy specifically made for Emily. What about you, though?]

Investigation
Data definitely notices them. He spends a good portion of the morning sitting out in the garden, face turned up towards the sky. Spot is creeping through plants nearby, and Parker is going through the lazy river again.]
It is getting closer.
[After that, he finally decides to go and check out the new areas. The workshop and kitchen both get a bit of a raised eyebrow, but it's the aquarium that really catches his interest. He'll spend some time here, walking around and looking at all the fish. It seems like he's also checking on the tank setup - it seems like someone must tend to the fish regularly, after all, but is it Mr. Jones or someone who would actually have to physically open stuff up?
That's just the first bit of the investigation, because in doing this, he does notice that the shark tank isn't properly secured. You might find him up there messing with the seal.]
This is not correctly sealed. Maybe I can find the materials needed to fix it in the workshop.
[He pops it open, pokes his head in, and then just kinda enters the shark tank. Mods is there anything hiding in the shark tank, or can he simply pet their sweet smooth skin?
Sometime after that, when he's gone and dried himself off, he spends a while pacing the decks. He stops in front of the Captain's elevator for a little while, looking at it in apparent thought. What if...?]

Perhaps he should consider himself lucky he has survived so far.
First things first, he goes looking at the aquarium, to see what's in here. So many fishes, so much water...Wow, what a place. Still...]
It feels a little pointless to have an aquarium when you're on a ship in the middle of the sea. You'd think instead a good cruise ship would let you into a deck underwater so you can see the ocean by yourself, right?
[Apparently Filbo thinks the sea has more fishes and interesting stuff ready to be seen than there actually is, hah.
Once he has explored the new areas, he just picks up some thin sticks of timber from the workshop, taking them to the piano lounge. The piano keys are too thin for his fluffy paws to work with, so maybe this way...testing, he pokes a piano key, finding it kind of works. Well! Time to get started with music.
He's not great at it. Filbo is just slowly pressing keys at random, like he's trying to guess what goes together with what. It's slooooooow work, one he's not trained at all in because he has no musical knowledge. If he did, perhaps he'd play something like this, but since he doesn't, it's just around five seconds of piano playing in a loop while he slowly attaches note to note as if they were building blocks. He's definitely not going to be able to play a song of anything before this murdercruise ends, that you can be sure of.
Still, he seems relatively satisfied. Can't help think of Freyja while he's with the piano]
Music's tougher than I thought it was, and I already thought it's plenty tough. I dunno how some people manage to get good at this, I dunno at all what I'm doing!
[But there's something kind of nice about just sitting to the piano and messing with it for a long while. Almost relaxing, he'd say]

Oh, hey! Did you want some? I forgot how much this recipe makes.
[Afterward, he ends up in the aquarium. Mainly because Gideon is currently riding on his shoulders, eyes wildly darting around the room. This is his new favorite room. Gideon does not ever want to leave the aquarium, and Scott seems content to wander around the room and let Gideon look at all the tanks.
Eventually he ends up in the McDonalds. Gideon's hanging out in the shoe cubby in front of the Play Place, near Scott's ratty shoes, but Scott himself is nowhere to be found. That's because he's, uh. He's in the ball pit. He might be stuck there. It's probably fine.]

TUESDAY
Motive - Mandatory Vacation Time
Jack, once again, is waiting for you.]
Avast! [He laughs, adjusting his bright red coat, now with the addition of a wide-brimmed hat. A great plumed feather rising out the top.] What do you think? Sea-worthy, right? Ah, I look good in anything. Right! The motive this week!
[Everyone’s devices ping them - a new photo had appeared. It’s a simple, casual photo, one of someone you know back home.]
Great photos, right? [On the screen, Jack reclines in his chair.] Took them just recently. Your friends? Family? They’re all fine… For now. So, that the rub: Kill someone, or else those people are gonna find themselves on a boat that looks a lot like this one.
Don’t want that forced on them? Just murder someone! Easy, right?

She's not...super thrilled at the idea of spending time in the piano lounge, but she does want to go, so she leaves Emily and Jimmy Bear behind for now to sit at the piano and slowly plink-plink away at the keys. They don't sound like much of anything, just Flayn hearing the notes they make, testing each one and humming softly until she hits the sound she's looking for, then moves on to the next one. Then the next...it takes a while, but soon she's able to, one key at a time, play something.]
In time's flow,
See the glow,
Of flames ever burning bright...
On the swift,
River's drift,
Broken memories alight...
[Her voice, light and soft, stops there as her brow furrows.] Were there not more lyrics? I cannot recall...it has been far too long since Father...
[Flayn shakes her head. Nope, not going to be sad about it right now. We're just going to focus on not giving Jack what he wants.
Later, you can find Flayn in the pool of all places. She's in that fish swimsuit and seems to be enjoying goofing about in the water while Emily and Jimmy Bear sit in lounge chairs nearby, both with books propped up for them to "read". After a point, Flayn lies on her back in the water to really look up at the sky. Her shortened hair fans out around her face.]
...More clouds...what a shame. I had hoped for stars.
[But it is an interesting development.]

Eventually, he'll move on into the aquarium. He's seated in front of the shark tank, watching them swim around with a nearly-blank expression on his face. He came in here to investigate... but man, he really doesn't feel like trying to be useful today. You're welcome to join him - you may even notice his device sitting out nearby, with a picture of twin teenagers on display. You may even recognize them from his minigolf course!]
What comes after this, I wonder? Threatening the people we care about seems like a last-ditch effort, ja?

She looks at all these things she doesn't want or need, but has, weighing her down. And hey, maybe the motive did kind of get her in a bad mood, because once she starts going through her own things she does it with a real vehemence, but regardless of emotional state it goes without saying that Magica is not exactly working with her fellow passengers' ease of movement in mind. Within about an hour, the pile accumulating outside room 5 takes on money bin proportions. If your character trips or stubs their toe on anything in the middle section here, that's their prerogative! Also, that horrible coin shark you may have seen roaming the halls at night has gotten out of her room and is kind of wading through everything, because she eats treasure and there's a loose diamond somewhere in there. Once Magica finishes, she stands in the doorway and dusts her hands off. ]
Ah, nothing like spring cleaning. [ ... ] Wait, what day is it actually...?
[ You can certainly answer this, but either way she'll be peeking back into her room to check at the good ol' DAYS SINCE POSSESSING DARK MAGYCKS (AGAIN) tally carved into the wall by the top bunk. ]

No, please! Don't leave us behind! We don't want to be alone! We don't want that anymore!
That spirit. Alice. Would the others treat her like them? As some sort of demon that didn't deserve a chance? Reika... didn't know. Did it matter? No. Still. She just sort of drifts through various activities on the ship. You can probably find her in a lot of places today but she focuses herself in one area.
The kitchen. She doesn't stress bake but there is sure a savory scent of meat being cooked today. Meatloaf, hamburg steak, a long simmering stew... Reika is a busy beaver! She does try her meals but she doesn't really eat them, leaving them out for others. She just sort of sits with her device.]
I never was that great of a cook but you always enjoyed it anyway... I only wish I could have learned more for you. [Is she talking to her device? Yes.]

Come to the spa later today for a night of relaxation! Even if you don't feel like relaxing with the rest of us, there will be food and alcohol provided! Please show up at least to say hello!
Reika and Filbo [a pawprint goes here and a drawn ':)' too]
When you get to the spa, it looks like someone's been busy! Several of the tubs are set up with low light to make it feel more relaxing. There are even hot drinks near them for your hydration needs! Not to mention another table with bite sized appetizers that have been either stolen from the cafe or made by Reika herself. There's yet another table with goodie bags filled with various spa and self care supplies you can take back to your room.
Speaking of Reika she's acting the part of host fairly well, asking if she can help paint your nails or help with your hair or feathers or whatever. Maybe she can just sit there and listen to you complain about the Captain. Reika's here for you, either way.
Filbo is there too, naturally, maybe not as actively hosting as she is. He's with the snacks and alcohol. They might not be as active as some of the other parties hosted before but can anyone blame them? It's been a rough week.]

THURSDAY
Investigation, also cw: encroaching dread
It follows her to the sports zone, and area which she has not gone in before. The facilities available here are a little confusing, especially the inflatable jousting, but she investigates the area with Emily and Jimmy Bear in tow, as if trying to refocus her mind on something new. How about it? Anything weird over here?
When not investigating, she is going through some basic motions with a spear from the vending machine. Her form is rusty and hesitant, but not inexperienced - maybe a bit old-fashioned, if you know your lance techniques. The activity at least gets her mind off of whatever it's stuck on for a little while, but does it actually help?
Around lunchtime she is in the movie theater. Again, all her stuffed animal friends, including Emily and Jimmy Bear, have been set up in the seats around her with their own snacks - Emily has sweet kettle corn, Jimmy Bear has beef jerky, it's all very fitting - while Flayn's tuna wrap from the Hyperion Cafe goes half uneaten. She keeps...rewinding part of what she's watching, seemingly enraptured by the scene of a young woman yearning for more beyond what she knows. Flayn was bound to find this movie eventually, it was only a matter of time. But does this help?
She'll be around to see everyone else for other things, of course, but notable is the evening, when she pauses outside of Room 2, a hand on the doorknob, and just. Looks at all the other rooms. Whether you're passing through or going to your own room, you might just be able to hear Flayn's tiny voice.]
...We're going to lose someone tonight.
[There's a waver to it, a fear, something that has settled in layers like sediment on the sea floor until it peeks up over the waves like a sand bank in low tide. Flayn knows she will not kill anyone - knows that if her Professor is brought to a similar boat, she would find a way to save everyone - but that doesn't mean everyone else has that same, unshakeable confidence. That doesn't mean someone she's grown to care quite a bit about won't become a target.
The hand on her doorknob starts to shake.
She's not going to get much sleep tonight.]

I would advise you to keep your distance, unless you have some interest in helping me with my practice.
[Okay. He's been productive! Once lunchtime rolls around and he's eaten, he's going to get some fruity alcoholic beverage and head to the casino where he's just gonna fuck around with the slot machines for a while.
...it's kind of a shame he can't get any prizes, though... like, it wasn't like he hadn't cleared the Puerto Valor casino out of the prizes he actually wanted, but it does mean that he gets increasingly bored with the actual gambling as he slowly finishes his drink...
...well. Late in the early evening, he heads up to the top deck by the garden to see if he'll get a chance to watch the sunset. He suspects if the storm gets even closer the next cycle, he won't be able to see it... he undoes his hair tie to let his hair loose, but the wind isn't blowing quite enough for him, so it's not, you know, as elegantly extra as he'd like.
So instead of just vibing as the sun sinks over the horizon, he finds himself staring at a pendant and kind of mumbling to himself.]
Would you have lasted this long as well, I wonder? Or would you have died already, doing some impossibly foolish thing to try and protect everyone?
