WEEK 7

Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Another week, another three gone in the case alone, not to mention Chloe earlier in the week. Even as you gain access to another floor, the ship by now must be starting to feel more empty than ever. It's been a long time by now, approaching two months.

Where do you think you'll be, in two months more time?

The clouds have begun to gather around the ship, this week.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to week 7, everyone! Remember to turn in AC here and coins for regains over here! If you wish to get in contact with the npcs, Davy Jones is over here, and The Captain is over here! And as requested, profiles are accessible here. ]

Really? That happens all the time?

[Many species learning each other's instruments...something is kind of great about that, he thinks]

Your world seems so full of possibilities!

I suppose so. Every time a new world enters the spacefaring community, they very literally bring an entire new world of possibilities with them. I am not even the only person aboard the Enterprise who is the first of their species to serve on a Starfleet vessel.

[which, arguably he doesn't have a species, but not the point]

I dunno if many of our worlds are ready for...you know, the shock of knowing there's so much out there, but will you tell people at home about worlds in other...dimensions? Planes of existence?

[He plays the same key a few times, trying to find the right words, but in the end he just goes with:]

...I dunno how to even call it.

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-03-11 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. I will have to make a report of all of this, when I explain my absence. But the theory is known in my world, and some accidental contact with other universes has even been recorded. They will believe me.

[.....]

If anything, I have broken some rules in being so forthright with the rest of you. We are not supposed to interfere with non-spacefaring peoples - even making them aware of our existence constitutes a violation of the Prime Directive.

W-Well it's not like there was much choice, right? I mean, your existence must be a huge shock for so many of us! Because you're an android.

[Mechanical beings must be such a new, unheard of thing for almost everybody on this ship, he figures!]

At some point there'd have been so many questions and refusing to answer would have caused so much speculation!

The last time I was trapped in a foreign time and place, I simply pretended to be a human. But I doubt that would have worked here.

[In any case, he doesn't seem all that worried about it.]

We are in a dire situation, and must rely on each other for survival. I believe being honest was the best approach, and I can make an argument for it. Captain Picard will understand.

I know I'd have been fooled. There's Lalli who is a human with some unusual behaviors, and then there's Scott who...apparently is human? Despite everything he...says and does? So if you hadn't said you're an android I'd have never guessed.

[He'd have been one of the few ones fooled, really]

Others seem to be thinking that lately. I mean, there's been a little less...secret-keeping than before? Flayn cut her hair and all. You really did figure out the honest approach far sooner than a lot of us did.
ltcommandroid: (I've got a (secret))

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-03-12 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
That is true. I have never been very fond of lying.

[like, he can do it; it's just a preference]

I would be surprised if I could widely pass as human in an environment such as this. I think the only reason I did back then was that there were only humans around. They had no conception that other species could exist. I expect Constantine, at least, would have quickly realized that I was something else.

[Given that they share a room. Data slept for the first week here, but he sure didn't do it normal.]

John is a sharp person! Although maybe he'd have thought you're a demon. That's--not much better, I suppose.

[Well, the point is that Constantine would have figured something out, yup]

[Data considers for a moment, tilting his head slightly.]

I suppose that is possible. I am not entirely sure what he believes a demon would look like, but I do often avoid first contact missions for that reason. People can find me distressing.

[Distressing, he says. Filbo thinks back to the first meeting. Hmmm...distressing definitely isn't the word he'd use, he doesn't remember it being a bad time! Maybe it's just because Filbo was looking for any reason to feel like things would be fine back then, but still...]

I guess I kinda know how that feels...about avoiding first contact for a reason like that? Somewhat? W-When we all arrived here I really was a little nervous I'd be considered some sorta strange thing, once I noticed I was the only grumpus around. I...don't think anyone thought I was distressing? But 'strange' must be something a lot of people thought.

[His own nervousness from back then is coloring a lot his memories, really. While surprised, most people seemed to think of him as a rather pleasant-looking creature. Filbo smiles wistfully, passing the stick from end to end of the piano keys]

I guess I wouldn't be great for first contact either, I'd get so nervous I wouldn't know what to do.

It is considered the most dangerous type of mission a Starfleet officer can undertake. There are so many ways a first contact can go poorly - it is not for everyone.

[RIP to them, the Guys Who Look Weird]

But at least in that regard, things have gone very smoothly here. It is almost surprising, how little tension we have had between ourselves as a result of species differences. [specifically that, because things in almost every other arena have been Tense and Bad]
