Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Another week, another three gone in the case alone, not to mention Chloe earlier in the week. Even as you gain access to another floor, the ship by now must be starting to feel more empty than ever. It's been a long time by now, approaching two months.

Where do you think you'll be, in two months more time?

The clouds have begun to gather around the ship, this week.

Well--not necessarily. Since we're on the open ocean, there's a whole lot of places where you don't see anything but water. And since we're moving, too...fish and other sea life'll generally try and steer clear, lest they get injured in the process. [He smirks.] And, of course, there's the fact that things underwater could also see you.

[Unless it's, like, dolphins and shit? They like swimming along the wakes of ships, right?]

Have you ever thought what fish must think when people are ogglin' at them in an aquarium?

I suppose you're not wrong! If I were a fish and I saw this big mass of steel moving above me I'd get outta there immediately. Also I guess I wouldn't know what steel is, but that's not the point.

[Fishes may not have common sense but they probably have enough survival instincts not to get in the way of ships!]

...they must think we can't mind our own business!

[It's like going to someone's house and sticking your face right onto their windows, hah]

[Constantine lets out a snort.]

Personally, I never saw the appeal...though, I suppose I live far too freely to own fish. You gotta clean their filters, change the water--and usually, I'm either couch surfing or renting.

[So, you know. Not really an ideal living situation to own a pet in a tank.]

I can't imagine you taking care of any pet anyway. Not because you wouldn't have the disposition for it? But because it's too much to responsibility when you don't have that much money anyway.

[And also because Filbo is pretty sure a pet would only add to his list of sorrows once his world just comes to make Constantine have a horrible time once again]

[Constantine laughs in a surprisingly genuine manner.]

Harsh, but true.

[A smirk tugs at the corners of his mouth.]

You know, I think you'd get along with my buddy back at home. His name's Chas. He'd show you a nice pub and treat you to a proper pint--though, I'm not sure he'd be able to get over the fur.

We first met when I was sixteen. You know how bloody long ago that was?

[ahelpingpaw]

Way longer than I have been alive.

[Quite the long time, really]

I hope you two met in good circumstances, at least!

[Circumstances hopefully not involving demons or the band]

Hard to say whether or not they were good circumstances, given that it'd been the second time I ran away from home and Chas's mum was a real piece of work. But we dealt with it, and ever since then, he's been with me through thick and thin.

[And, also, is one of the few living friends of John Constantine, thanks to Constantine's considerable efforts to keep him out of the sphere of magic. Chas doesn't deserve to be dragged into all that, he's just a regular, Normal Dude!]

He was always there to drag my ass out of trouble if I got in too deep, and I'd do the same for him. I'd almost wish he was here, but...I wouldn't ever want to subject him and his family to this.

[An almost wistful expression passes over his face.]

Nothing like a loyal friend!

[Filbo's just glad there's someone who has been willing to stick with Constantine for so long and be there for him. Boy does Constantine need that, what after everything he has to deal with in his life]

He knows what you do, right? Or is it something you have to keep a secret from him somehow?

[Not that Constantine has been trying hard to hide any of it around here, hah]

Oh, he knows. He just isn't particularly privy to a lot of details--and honestly, it's for the better. Sometimes he nags me about me wanting his help despite not letting him in on it, but the bastard doesn't know how lucky he is.

[He smirks, crossing his arms. If Chas ever went down for any reason, well...he wouldn't know what to do with himself.]

It's not particularly difficult to try and get into magic--but once you're in it, it's impossible to get out.

[Fun!]

That's not exactly what I wanted to hear after having attended a seance. That better not count because I have enough to worry about to add magic into the mix.

[Well, it didn't have much magic because Calypso was the one who took the chance to make contact and therefore it'd have been useless if she hadn't, so maybe it doesn't count! He hopes, at least]

[scouserer]

I'm sure you're safe. After all, you weren't the one who set up the seance in the first place.

[That's what he's hoping, at least! Filbo doesn't deserve to be plagued with more problems.]

Besides, seances are like...one of the smallest forms of magic you could probably do. Like dialing a phone number, 'cept its for spirits. It'd be a hell of a lot different if we tried to actually summon anything onto the ship.

[ahelpingpaw]

If you and Magica ever think about summoning anything please don't.

[He's not ruling out one or both of them will think of it for one reason or another, in which case Filbo will stay very far away from the spooky teen zone, thank you very much]

[scouserer]

Don't worry, we won't be doing that. [A pause.] Yet. We'll see what circumstances arise.

[A wicked grin seems permanently affixed on his face.]

[This is not reassuring at all, Constantine, goodness]

...I think I'll start drawing larger versions of Lalli's rune, then. It's not gonna protect me against anything corporeal but if you end summoning a horde of ghosts at least I'll have something.

[He's definitely taking that grin as a sign of how likely a horrible summoning is in the cards, hah]

[Constantine snorts.]

Hah! Just messin' with you, mate.

[Perhaps not the best idea given the circumstances, but....]

If any ghosts try and go after you, don't worry--I'll be the first ready to step in and help.

[Filbo can't help but be amused at that]

[Looks like after almost two months Constantine still can effortlessly pull fast ones against Filbo, hah]

Aw, thanks! Lalli said that if he's not available to face ghosts I should talk to you or Davy Jones, which I guess means in Lalli's opinion you're on the same level than Davy Jones. That--That's gotta be a compliment of some sort.

[Constantine brightens.]

Well, I suppose that's something!

[It's a compliment to him, at least!]

If I'm being honest, Davy probably knows the most about ghosts out of any of us on this ship. After all, he helps ferry the dead off, doesn't he?

That's what I have heard! We do see a lot of...dead people? On that ship under the trial room? They look kinda jolly while being on that ghost ship, so...good for them.

[Davy Jones just dragging any invading ghosts to join the crew, hah]

[scouserer]

Well, if your options are the empty void, Hell, or serving on a ship for the rest of eternity with your mates, I think most people would opt for the last option.

[Just saying!]

Though, I don't know if Hell exists in this world....

[Well he's not wrong, that does sound like the best option]

Maybe it's one big hell for all worlds!
