Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

Yes. He truly is a remarkable person. He's also very good at inspiring all those around him, so I believe they're in good hands.

So even if we don't find a way to save them ourselves, there's a chance that they'll be able to do it on their own. Perhaps they'll manage something that we haven't and get at Mayor Fontaine in some way...

Honestly, it takes him a moment to register that anything is even holding the chair aloft, it's just hanging there in the air before it goes flying across the room, but then he gets into a better position and... No, no, that's even weirder than the flying chair, what the - ]

Yes, precisely. He may be paying more attention to us than to them... so that could work in their favor.

No offense, but I don't think that's going to work... If the glass were breakable, I'm sure that someone else would have by now...

I had to see that by myself. As structurally sound as this pane of glass is, I refused to assume it was unbreakable until I had tested that extensively.

[And so far, results indicate Forrest is right]

There's no reaction from those on the other side -- not even from those leaning on the glass. They should feel the vibrations from the impacts. My hypothesis is that there's more than one pane of glass -- enough panes to dampen even the vibrations.

[Talking like this is a far better choice than thinking about how frustrating it is that her partner is right there and she can't seem to do anything about this. It's a distraction, in a way]

Me, I think there are way worse places to be kept hostage. Like prison. Glad we’re not in prison, and that we’ve got stuff. But I’m not convinced that dying of boredom isn’t going to be a risk here.

[Obi wakes about eleven inches above the shallow area of the pond in the garden, which gives him just enough time to splutter out a startled:] Wha—?!

[That's good! He doesn't mind being a distraction, or keeping things to the facts of the situation; it's also taking the edge off of how weird this entire business is.]

I believe Jonathan could hear when he was in there, and the woman from before could hear Mayor Fontaine - do you think he's using one of his spying devices to control the sound?

[Cameras, audio equipment, it's all spying devices as far as Forrest is concerned.]

It's more like 50/50 on if Craigslist is useful or not, honestly. Sometimes it's a cesspit. Sometimes it's useful.

Ah, of course. Knowing accomplices. But such arrangements... eh, they rarely go well in the long run.

[ He does a stupid little waving-away gesture to accompany this statement, which is actually quite deeply-felt, all things considered! What have the last few months been if not proof that, among creatures with a killer's intent, there is no such thing as harmonious co-leadership? ]

If anything the guy with the big hair said applies to this situation, everyone who is not the braised [ listen............. shut up ] will be summarily executed should they succeed, making multiple killings a necessity. And that is much more difficult to cover up. Chances are high that the real move is to play at an alliance for the sake of murder, then stab your collaborator in the back.

[Eventually, Jonathan fell sound asleep against Obi. It was... nice, in a weird way. Even if the threat of murder was more real, he felt absolutely safe sleeping next to him.

But the moment of comfort is unceremoniously shattered when he is startled awake by being dumped into the garden pond. He flails and sputters, not registering what is happening beyond the fact that he was in water. Eventually, he opens his eyes and realizes that he's in the garden, and in no real danger of drowning.

He sees Obi next to him and is just... baffled by this whole ordeal.]

What on Earth just happened?

[Sure he knows that it's somewhat important to be aware of this possibility but he hates it!]

Correct. There's no other possibility.

[Unless somehow it's magical, in which case screw you, Mayor Fontaine, magic doesn't exist]

In other circumstances I would be able to take control of said devices, but it seems my...skills have been dampened considerably.

[More like I'm not breaking the game if there's technology involved, haha. Sucks for Aiba but my authorial fiat says she can't do it]
