Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Huh? I gotta go back that far?

[He waves both his hands to signal stop, stop!]

Whoops, okay, belay that order! Why don't we start with everyone showing me just how you make a fist, okay?

Er - kind of? We really just found the guy.

[Misfire shrugs.]

We were gonna use him as a - [Bargaining chip.] - we were gonna take him home with us and see what came of it. Being an autobot of renown - that’s the side of the enemy, bee-tee-dubs - we figured that no matter who ended up being in charge back home, bringing him in would work out.

[It’s not the most charitable reason.]

But when we found him, something was wrong. For starters, he wasn’t tearing us apart on sight. I mean, he’s the kind of guy you tell stories about to scare new recruits. But we realised he couldn’t write or say anything but his own name. Something - someone - messed him up before we found him. Plans changed and we’ve kind of just been…helping him. Or trying to.

[ Well, he was going to say they should poll the others, but now that it's kind of their thing... ]

... I may need to slumber on that one. [ He can't suggest just calling him "that fucking guy", which is really the only thing he's inclined to say! Jonathan might get the vapors! ] It is harder to come up with an insulting nickname when you do not actually know what the man looks like.

You’re a lot more suited to this than me. Most of the time I’d say ‘that’s not my problem’ except we’re all stuck in this together, so I guess it is.

[He sighs in frustration.]

Like, we’ve literally got a guy here who went through this before! I don’t know if they’re being naive, delusional, or just stupid - but there’s a point where it’s gonna hit the fan, and it’ll be way easier if we just stop pretending it won’t.

[dullshooter]

[He kind of fails at catching them but they kind of hit him, and that’s close enough for him to get them in his arms.]

[He looks at the clown. He wants to stop looking at the clown.]

At the risk of sounding paranoid, I’m not convinced this thing won’t curse me if I shoot at it.

[Thoughtfully:] A pipe? A secret tunnel? For that matter, has anyone been keeping track of the food in our kitchens? Does that get restocked?

How could you tell?

[He laughs, but it’s kind of hollow.]

His name’s Grimlock, and I bet he doesn’t even know what’s going on. Lucky bastard.

[There goes the chair, again... but at least Aiba seems to have decided it isn't working for the time being. Rossiu glances over at the hostages when Aiba continues.]

That's fair. I don't think any of us were expecting this.

[For the Mayor to get impatient and try to speed this up? Sure, but not this specific motive!!]

[What, do you think he's going to demand a favor in return or something??]

I'm pleased it ended up here, then. It would seem a good amount of our personal items have somehow been brought here.

[Can most of us even lift that, let alone swing it and kill someone with it??? Rossiu shakes his head.]

Never mind. I think that's likely for the best; if it cannot be disposed of safely or dismantled, then it would be best to keep it somewhere safe.

[You're welcome, you didn't hear it from him!!]

A habit, I suppose. I've spent a lot of my time ensuring that my colleagues get their work done on time, so it involves a lot of scolding.

[Rossiu glances over at Vholran when he's addressed, eyes narrowing at the question.]

Of course it does.

[That's out there before he can think to stop it, but...]

The Mayor chose to bring Simon. [He points the guy who isn't wearing a proper shirt out.] He was the Supreme Commander before me. He's... exceptionally important to the people back home.

[What will they do without him? Will they even be able to stop the threat that faces their world?]

[As response, a diamond-shaped form appears in the air, and inside it a moving portrait of Kaname Date. It's so much easier to explain things and communicate when you finally can do your usual trick of using images to back you up!

Curious thing, one of Date's eyes in the portrait has a yellow eye the exact color of Aiba. The real one, though, has that eye closed all the time. It's pretty easy to guess what's up with that]

Kaname Date, special police agent. Before Mayor Fontaine explained the situation I attempted to contact him, but...of course that was futile, being in different worlds.

Now that he's here, perhaps some progress on getting out of here can finally happen.

[Apparently Aiba is pretty confident they can do something! As long as they're together, though]

[ Having a nice beard and mustache situation is an extremely helpful shortcut sometimes! Like, if you stroke your beard in silence, it seems like you might be actually thinking about something instead of struggling to remember the name of the gentlemen poet who composed the Hustle. ]

The trouble is that nowadays, most poets are more of a balladeer, singer-songwriter type of thing. They set their verses to music, so it really must be listened to for the full effect. You got, you know, your Robert Seger—

[ This, of course, makes him think of Gail, so he's quick to move on and come up with as many names as possible! Like, not even musicians he particularly cares for, just whatever pops up into his head. ]

—your Stephen Wonders, your William Ocean, your Lady Gaga [ he says guh-gah ], the bard formerly known as Prince... all kinds of stuff. Oh, there was a good one that came out very recently. Very talented young lady, really pulled at the heartstrings. And her name was...

Eh, these things happen. [ And they especially happen when you're as self-absorbed as Nandor, who has yet to speak to... god, five whole people even with Brett crossed off the list! It's debatable whether or not he knows Vholran exists! ] So... how are you holding up?

[Jonathan was quite obviously not a natural born fighter, but between his current home situation and everything about what's going on now, he feels that it's probably for the best to learn some fighting skills for safety reasons

He is, however, a little confused why they're bothering to ask him how to make a fist. After all, it's not a hard task for anyone who can close their hand.]

[Jonathan, who had begun to get rather cozy, suddenly bolts up, wide eyed in horror.]

Oh dear God you're right this is so improper! Should I move further from you?

[Sure he was aware that the situation was improper in the first place, but Obi pointing it out suddenly made him feel extremely self conscious.]

We should’ve used that as a military tactic. The autobots would’ve never seen it coming.

[What if the Cybertronian Civil War was solved by dance battle. It would be a better timeline.]

How about you pass down some of those pointers? I showed you how decepticons get down, now it’s your turn to educate on eel-style.
