Week 5

Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

Another week, another motive, another trial. Even without a literal time loop, it's easy to start to feel stuck in something of a rut. Though vandalism parties and the like can help shake the feeling somewhat, it's only natural to start going a little... stir-crazy, don't you think?

Fortunately for you, another week brings another new section of New Rapture to investigate. This one is the biggest yet! And look at that fun theme park. And a bar!

Seven of you are dead, but eighteen of you remain. What you do to try to escape is up to you, but at least following :)'s advice gets you coins for stuff, you know?

Investigation

[Well, Gaius doesn't feel like shit this morning, so it's time for... okay. first workouts in the gym, shower, breakfast, marksmanship practice in the arcade, and time to check out the new stuff in detail! He'll make a note of the nightclub for later because while he absolutely does need a drink that isn't Malort he is absolutely not a day drinker. Especially since there's work to be done!

Since he's feeling in good form after kicking some ass during the trial, he's going to investigate the dark ride. Is he going to ride the boats? Well... maybe once, just to see what the intended experience is supposed to be. But after that, he's going to try and do some Deep Investigation on the various scenes. He can definitely jump there, it's cool. If you get on the dark ride and see Gaius poking around the scenes say hello and wave. You know, in between sloppy makeouts, because what else are dark rides for.

After that, he's going to chill out and poke around Swimmin', but when he finds nothing of interest, he's just going to chill out and watch the show. It's probably fine to just relax and enjoy some edutainment, right? He is taking notes, at least, because he doesn't know what the fuck about the Atlantic Ocean. When the show's over, he just kind of nods in satisfaction.]

...I know not if that was accurate, but it should not be difficult to confirm. I am surprised it was... of any quality whatsoever.

[You know, instead of some gaudy piece of shit.

But yeah, once it feels late enough, he heads to the nightclub and pours himself something stiff. It's kind of a shame there isn't a bartender, but the ambiance is nice. If he gets to mess around with the jukebox, he'll kind of... cock his head at a song title but put it on regardless, and... hey, it's nice? It's nice. It's good for having a nice quiet drink.]

Investigation

[ Okay so! The general vibe of this ride is, and you'll probably be familiar with this sort of thing, Absolutely Propaganda. Frank Fontaine left the first Rapture, which was built by a man named Andrew Ryan, and travelled to another world and gathered people to form a city that would represent the best of the universe.

The final scene, however, is of interest! It's meant to be an assembly of all of the Founders gathered waving at you, but... the animatronics have been removed, seemingly by force. ]

[What are you talking about, he doesn’t know anything about propaganda. His Radiance, the coolest and sexiest emperor to ever walk the earth, would never allow such a thing.

Anyway, the animatronic Founders display is where he’s going to try and get on over to the other side. He’s a JRPG villain, he can backflip ten feet into the air to get where he needs if necessary. It’s fine.]

[ Of course, of course.

The whole area is pretty easy to traverse around, especially with a fuckin Five Foot Vertical Leap! There's not a lot to be found behind the scenes, per se - it seems that the backstage has been cleared out, if that's where the animatronics were - but the important thing here is that you can tell how many were here - twenty-five. ]

[twenty-five, huh… Ah, a cursed round 2.5, perhaps.

In any case, even if the animatronics themselves aren’t present, he’ll poke around for traces before moving on to see if he can poke around the previous segments!]

[ So there's not a lot left, certainly not that indicates much about who these were animatronics of. Some have remnants of boots or high heels... there's a replica of a sword? But that's all you're going to find in the ride itself. ]

[Hmm, okay! He’ll take that to show off if they have a meeting this week. If he leaves the ride to examine the other parts of the building it’s in, is there anything to find?]

[ Not a whole lot! But if he looks through the boats, looks like there's an audio log in the back of one! And who said this wasn't a log ride? ]

[Oh boy! Everyone’s favorite! He’ll do one last once over to see if he missed anything before heading back to his room and popping that bad boy in.]

What, you took your girlfriend on this stupid dark ride to talk about a bunch of... criminal adult men? I've known a LOT of criminal adult men, babe. And one criminal adult parrot.

Okay, yes, and to make out - and same, actually, on the parrot, we should talk about that later - but something's up with Fontaine. I think we need to be ready in case something big goes down.

Well, if something is, you've got me to watch your back. And speaking of, we're not in here for nothing, c'mere-

[This is probably the last place you'd expect to see Rossiu because he still does not know how to have fun (despite Misfire's attempts, bless you Misfire), but here he is anyway. And he's immediately proving that point given that he looks at the alcohol and tries really, really hard not to sigh.

But Gaius is here and Gaius is listening to something interesting, so Rossiu comes over to greet him.]

[Admittedly, Gaius is not exactly the “fun” type either considering he is trying to go for the atmosphere of a quiet bar rather than a pumping nightclub… but anyway he nods.]

I'm glad to hear that. Things have been... difficult lately, but I wanted to thank you for intervening during the trial.

I was glad to be of service. I will admit, I am somewhat surprised nothing of the sort happened earlier, but I suppose if it was going to be anyone, it would have been him...

Yes, I do think most people would find the odds too much to attempt it in the first place...

[But Vholran decided a 10 vs 1 was about the same as a usual Tales boss fight and he was wrong.]

Still, we were lucky to get through that with only injuries. It would have been far worse if you all hadn't acted. Thank you.

I think the odds would likely have been better for him if he happened to retain his abilities from his homeland instead of losing even what he received from the plasmids. At least, I presume he may have assumed as much… I did find him a challenging opponent whenever I attempted to fight him alone and unarmed after the previous trial.
