Week 5
Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.
Another week, another motive, another trial. Even without a literal time loop, it's easy to start to feel stuck in something of a rut. Though vandalism parties and the like can help shake the feeling somewhat, it's only natural to start going a little... stir-crazy, don't you think?
Fortunately for you, another week brings another new section of New Rapture to investigate. This one is the biggest yet! And look at that fun theme park. And a bar!
Seven of you are dead, but eighteen of you remain. What you do to try to escape is up to you, but at least following :)'s advice gets you coins for stuff, you know?

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to the fifth week of Unknown Seas Round 3! Please make sure to mark any investigation toplevels accordingly, post your ac, and you can reach either Mayor Fontaine or Eleanor for conversations! ]

roller coaster
I sincerely hope it won't, but... well, it's hard not to imagine.
[Despite the fact that he doesn't exactly look all that disturbed by it, rest assured he is very disturbed by it!!]
There's nothing stopping anyone from vandalizing this place as well, if you think that will help.
[He didn't participate but I promise he was there I just forgot to post to it!!!!]

[His tone's light. Maybe it'd be fun to do anyway? But we really need to have like, a group meeting this week probably - ]
Have you ever been on a roller coaster?
no subject
[Though maybe the more artistic types might like to come up with new and creative displays every day...? He wouldn't know, he's definitely not an artist.]
I haven't, no. We don't have anything quite like this back home.
[Smaller fair-type things, probably! But I'm pretty sure GL does not have a full blown amusement park anywhere.]
I'm assuming that most of them are truly safe, but it's a bit hard to imagine that looking at it right now.
no subject
[Apparently he wants them to kill each other, but that doesn't make Fontaine trustworthy, you know? At least, not in Brett's opinion.]
no subject
[That's not paranoia, that's just facts!!]
no subject
[somehow, we still come back to the trolley problem]
I don't...know what we'd do if anything accidental ever happened. I know what he'd want us to do, of course. I don't expect any mercy from him. But we've had so much trouble already... [And everyone, even Hodaka at the end of the day, killed intentionally. What would a trial over an accident look like?]
no subject
I hate to say it, but we may have to consider that possibility. As much as I don't want to believe that such a thing would happen... it would be easier to try to think about it now rather than during a trial.
[Though it's not much easier at all. After a moment, Rossiu shakes his head.]
My apologies, I know this isn't an easy topic and I do sincerely hope that it is one we never have to face.
no subject
If...
[Hm.]
I don't...know how this would happen. But if I ever did anything that accidentally resulted in someone's death, I'd want everyone to vote for me anyway. No sense in everyone else suffering for that. It's a little harder to say I'd just vote for someone else and be okay with it, though.
no subject
[Well, it's not like he has to imagine all that hard, even if the circumstances are very different.]
I admit I am coming at this from a different angle - I need to survive to return home to my people. So I have no choice but to play along and to vote for my own survival, even if it means condemning someone for an accident.
But it's easier to say that now than it would be to actually act on it, should such a thing come to pass. I can only guess how I would actually react in the moment.
[But even if the guilt would eat him alive, it would be necessary. He doesn't really doubt his ability to do it, in the end.]
I do hope such a thing never happens and we don't have to face that.

[The voting does hit Brett harder. He's a regular person; he's never really been in a situation where he had to make life-and-death decisions for other people before this one. But it only seems fair that they all share in the burden.
He folds his arms uneasily, admitting after a moment:]
I didn't...really mean not to vote, the first time, I just...I - I don't know. I feel like by the time I realized what was happening, it was already over.
[Even if he's already decided all this...would he have the ability to do it, in the end? Could he force himself?]
I hope it doesn't happen, either.
no subject
[Well, maybe they could, but they'd be an asshole to do it!!]
I do agree with you - we don't have any choice here, so attempting to abstain due to morals really would only cause problems. But should it be a situation like this, one where no one was truly at fault... then I hope I'll be able to help those who need it.
[If that means voting on their behalf, then he can at least do that. Though of course, there's no way to tell for sure how likely that will be until it's happening.]
It will continue to be difficult to move forward, but we must press on until we finally have a chance to confront the Mayor ourselves.
[He still does firmly believe that, at least.]
no subject
Yeah. That's really the only choice we have.
[It's just. A lot. But that's nothing new, is it?]
It's good of you to help people like that. I'm one of the older ones here, I feel like I should be doing more, but...geez, a lot of these kids have been through a lot more than I ever have.
no subject
[Every week more or less confirms that, after all... but most people here likely feel the same way about not being able to help.]
Besides, you've been quite thorough with your notes and investigations, haven't you? That's very important - this information will prove useful to us, I'm sure of it.
[Maybe not right away, but at some point.]
no subject
[And it's all interesting besides, so of course he's been keeping track of everything.]
I'm not sure if all this stuff with the founders will ever be immediately relevant, but I do think it'll be useful to have the background. If we know how everything got to this point, we'll understand Fontaine better. That can only be a good thing.

[you know, like a normal person]
Way easier to do with a computer.
