WEEK 3

Well, the tail end of Week 2 could have gone better. That's the first thing to note.

The second thing is... hang on, should it be Week 3 yet? You've all gone to sleep (or... not, in the case of anyone who doesn't), but when you wake up (and you do all wake up), the calendar and clock on your device informs you that it's Sunday. In-character, all characters explicitly have absolutely no memory of Saturday.

Your sense of time isn't the only thing that's changed - a new branch of the facility has opened and become active overnight, giving you new resources and places to investigate, should you so choose. There's also a new channel on the television, though whether it's an improvement over the last one is questionable.

Otherwise, though, things have mostly settled into normalcy again, or at close to normal as you can find in this place. How long that peace will last, though... that's becoming increasingly uncertain, moving forward.

Hm...well, I won't argue that you have a fair point. We might be able to make something useful on the kiln in the arts room, if we experiment around with it a bit. No doubt we can make something that can be used as a rope in the sewing room, so you wouldn't have to braid your sheets together in the fitness room. And the woodshop...well, there's no shortage of tools in there, it's true.

[ She presses the bottom of her foot against the front of the stall and leans back a bit, with a finger to her chin...but she doesn't seem quite so enthused at the opportunity. Sure, those things could be nice to use for supplies, but, on the flipside...

Well, maybe that's just her being paranoid. In any event... ]

Hopefully we can use them to come up with things that the Professor wouldn't expect us to use to our advantage. After all, I kind of doubt he would willingly give us all of the tools we need to get out on his own like that...but you're right that we should use all of the means at our disposal as best as we can.

...Who knows whether he willingly provided us those tools. It's not like he has total control over this place. Here. Look.

[He uncrosses his arms and walks away, looking for something--there. He picks up a loose tile to show Ema. It's the same message he found in the men's room last week.

Doubt he left this for us.

A-ha. So that's what you guys were whispering about at the meeting last week...

[ But why does that feel more ominous than it does a clue? ]

I doubt he did, too, but do we have any theories on who did? Honestly, I'm wondering what kind of person would leave a message like that to begin with, if it wasn't one of us...

William said neither Angel nor the Professor knows who left these messages. Or they said they didn't, anyway.

If it wasn't them and they didn't see who did, then it was someone who was here before either of them. Someone who knew secrets about this place and could hide them as they pleased.

To point out that there was no surveillance, though...someone who would want to make a note of that for someone to find, but keep it hidden...

Makes you wonder what this place was being used for before we got here, if anything, doesn't it?

Sure does. And how long our messenger was down here, to leave so much for us to find.

Who's to say they wanted us to find them?

[ Not that much will come from speculation, but... ]

Us specifically, that is. They could've been left behind for someone else to stumble across...

Nothing I'd be able to use any sort of evidence to back up. I don't want to get too lost in my own head or anything, especially without any sort of base for it.

But I dunno, stop me if I'm sounding crazy here. I've actually been wondering this for a minute now, but...do you think we're the first ones? To go through...this whole thing, I mean.

The note William found last week--the one in the laundering room--I thought it implied we weren't. We're "subjects," right? There were other subjects before us.
