WEEK 3

Well, the tail end of Week 2 could have gone better. That's the first thing to note.

The second thing is... hang on, should it be Week 3 yet? You've all gone to sleep (or... not, in the case of anyone who doesn't), but when you wake up (and you do all wake up), the calendar and clock on your device informs you that it's Sunday. In-character, all characters explicitly have absolutely no memory of Saturday.

Your sense of time isn't the only thing that's changed - a new branch of the facility has opened and become active overnight, giving you new resources and places to investigate, should you so choose. There's also a new channel on the television, though whether it's an improvement over the last one is questionable.

Otherwise, though, things have mostly settled into normalcy again, or at close to normal as you can find in this place. How long that peace will last, though... that's becoming increasingly uncertain, moving forward.

[ Not quite - the floor and walls seem pretty normal. There's always the equipment to look over, though, or the showers! ]

[ Sure is! Rin will work her way through the equipment, then; she's looking for manufacturer's marks, serial numbers, things like that, so does anything jump out at a closer examination of the machines? ]

[ Interesting! So a fun fact Rin will get if she does that is that none of the machines actually... have those things. So off-brand that there just isn't one... terrifying. ]

[ That's what she suspected, but good to have it confirmed. Is there anything else of note she might catch during a close examination of the equipment, or should she move on to the showers? ]

[ That's the only big clue from them, yep!

The showers, eh? There's nothing immediately off about them, just looking around inside, but... something tells you that might not be all there is to them. ]

[mouflon]

[ After the hidden door Therion showed her, Rin is going to be checking the walls very carefully anyway. Is there anything off noticeable by touch, if she runs her hands over them? ]

[ So the walls are a lot of small square tiles, and going by touch some of the ones higher up are of a slightly different texture. ]

[mouflon]

[ Hmm!! Do they depress if Rin pushes down on them? ]

[bathymetric]

[ They do not! Maybe if you do something else to them, though...? ]

[mouflon]

[ Okay, how about trying to peel them off, then? ]

[bathymetric]

[ No dice, unfortunately. The shower will not give up its secrets so easily. ]

[mouflon]

[ Damn these showers...!!

Okay, just to check, if Rin stands back, is there a visual difference to these tiles now that she knows they're not quite right? ]

[ A little, but not enough to make out the pattern exactly. It's worth noting also that none of the tiles lower down have this texture discrepancy, just the ones above eye level. ]

[mouflon]

[ Going back to touching, are the abnormal tiles in a straight line, or are there gaps in between them? ]

[ There's definitely a pattern of lines here - it might be letters? But the change in the texture is so subtle it would take a while to mark out what's here. ]

[ Hmmm.

Let's say Rin goes to the art room and comes back with a paper and pencil. Does the texture difference come across if she tries to take an etching? ]

[ A little?

But after the exertion of running off to another room and coming back, Rin might notice that some of the tiles are a little darker where she's touching them. ]

[mouflon]

[ Oh, like... Heat sensitive? If she holds her palm to one, does it change color? ]

[bathymetric]

[ Heat doesn't seem to be quite it...

Maybe moisture? ]

[mouflon]

[ Well, either way, there's only one thing to do!

Obviously, this is to turn on every shower head at maximum heat and hope enough steam builds up to reveal the hidden message. ]

[ That'll do it, if you give it a couple minutes! So much hot water used...

anyway, in total Rin will get... a number? -8.7832.

[ Perfect. And since she's already gotten a pencil and paper, she can jot that down and leave! ]
