Well, the tail end of Week 2 could have gone better. That's the first thing to note.

The second thing is... hang on, should it be Week 3 yet? You've all gone to sleep (or... not, in the case of anyone who doesn't), but when you wake up (and you do all wake up), the calendar and clock on your device informs you that it's Sunday. In-character, all characters explicitly have absolutely no memory of Saturday.

Your sense of time isn't the only thing that's changed - a new branch of the facility has opened and become active overnight, giving you new resources and places to investigate, should you so choose. There's also a new channel on the television, though whether it's an improvement over the last one is questionable.

Otherwise, though, things have mostly settled into normalcy again, or at close to normal as you can find in this place. How long that peace will last, though... that's becoming increasingly uncertain, moving forward.

[She mutters, mostly to herself, before turning an unwarranted glare back on Rose.]

But I wouldn't put much stock into what she says, honestly, she's infuriating as it is.

She's not the most objective.

[She definitely has something against Rose in particular, that's clear. Rose...well, I mean, it seems fairly clear why.]

And she thinks she's better than everyone and doesn't need to listen to anybody! With that and the destruction she causes, it's a wonder she's still around.

That's how things are on Homeworld. You're all organic beings, so of course she thinks you're beneath her.

I'm just glad our magic stones don't insult us.

You have magic stones?

[emberserker]

Yes, that's how we channel our magic. We can't charge new ones anymore, what with the seal, so any we still have have been passed down for a thousand years. Of course, there used to be far more, but GRANBELM accounts for breaking most of them... They aren't alive like you and she, of course.

Of course. But that's interesting.

Homeworld will use gems as power sources, sometimes.

What, live ones like you?

Mm-hmm. It's done as a punishment, or a way of disposing of Gems who aren't useful. If a Gem's gemstone is put inside an object, they can't form their body - all the energy they use trying can be channeled into something else instead.

[Anna thinks this over for a second. Her head turns downward.]

Anyone would want to get rid of a subordinate who wasn't useful or obedient. If they drag you down, then it'll happen to you too, won't it?

Condemning someone to an eternity of suffering after a single mistake? That's a terrible way to treat people!

I didn't say it wasn't!

[Anna raising her voice is nothing new, and for that matter, neither is the sweeping gesture that knocks her plate of chicken over and sends all the bones off the table. Still, there's a boiling rage in her eyes that calls back to her calling out the Professor on the first day.]

No one wants to be the one who loses everything for someone else's benefit. But it's just like in here with the trials, isn't it? You don't want it to be you, so it has to be the one who would put you in that position. That's the Professor to us, and it's the innocent to the guilty down in that courtroom.

That's not the same thing at all! A Diamond isn't going to die because a Ruby stumbled in line, or a...a Pearl spoke out of turn! They won't even lose anything - they don't care about anything enough to miss it anyway.

Some people will just take everything from you just because they're selfish, even if they don't need it.

[lovelikeyou]

I know! That's what the Diamonds do! All any other Gem has is their lives, so they'll take those away just because they can.

[emberserker]

...well. That's how harsh anyone else has to be to deal with someone like that.

[She gets up, fists at her sides, and marches out, leaving the chicken mess behind.]

[Ugh! Why would she possibly defend people like that? Rose is not going to go after her.]
