WEEK 3

Well, the tail end of Week 2 could have gone better. That's the first thing to note.

The second thing is... hang on, should it be Week 3 yet? You've all gone to sleep (or... not, in the case of anyone who doesn't), but when you wake up (and you do all wake up), the calendar and clock on your device informs you that it's Sunday. In-character, all characters explicitly have absolutely no memory of Saturday.

Your sense of time isn't the only thing that's changed - a new branch of the facility has opened and become active overnight, giving you new resources and places to investigate, should you so choose. There's also a new channel on the television, though whether it's an improvement over the last one is questionable.

Otherwise, though, things have mostly settled into normalcy again, or at close to normal as you can find in this place. How long that peace will last, though... that's becoming increasingly uncertain, moving forward.

[When Anna comes by, it's both very familiar and unfamiliar. Unfamiliar because she's actually wearing the tie-dye shirt and jeans that passes for the default casual outfit and she's covered in sawdust and paint. Familiar because the aura of impotent rage that surrounds her can be felt from five meters away.]

What are you looking for out there?

[pimpplan]

[ It's crazy how that anger she's got just radiates off of her. Eat a snickers, Anna. ]

Hmm? Oh, nothing in particular. Just waiting for some underwater craft to come save us damsels in distress.

[ He gives her a quick once over as he talks. ] What kind of art project have you been working on?

[emberserker]

I got a kit to assemble a nightstand from the prize machine. It's far more frustrating than it looks, but at least now I've got more furniture.

[pimpplan]

[ He didn't even know what to expect as an answer, but it somehow wasn't that. ]

Why?

[emberserker]

What do you mean, why? They've been giving us all this rubbish, the cabinets will run out of room at this rate.

[pimpplan]

Yeah, but you'd probably be better off just pushing it all onto someone else, then, right? No sense in hanging onto it if you barely even want it.

[ one man's trash is another man's something something. ]

At least some of it's useful. What, are you just asking because you haven't been getting enough and you want some of your own?

[pimpplan]

What, me? Pfft, no thanks. I have enough presents at home from my hunnies, I don't need anything else to clog up my living space.

[ Of course, that tune is gonna change once he finds out what Rin's got, but. It's fine. It's fine. ]

Are you saying you have fangirls?

[pimpplan]

But of course~! I'm a very, very big deal where I'm from; the women just seem to fall head over heels for me!

[ oh god, he's sparkling again. ]

I have two questions: how and why.

[pimpplan]

Well, first of all, have you seen me? [ He absolutely does not give her time to respond to that question as he keeps talking: ] Second of all, it doesn't help that I'm one of the most important people in my home world. Even if you were ugly as sin, being influential is attractive to a lot of people.

[emberserker]

If it's because you're important, then you should have led with that.

[pimpplan]

Ow, that cuts deep, you know!

[ :( ]

You can't be that upset. Anyone would be proud of it if they held a high position.

[pimpplan]

... Yeah, I guess that's true. Comes with a lot of great privileges, at least. People tend to roll over any time I ask for something, so I can't complain about that.

[emberserker]

So do you come from a powerful family, then, or...

[pimpplan]

... In a sense. I was given the title of Chosen of my home world after my father, the previous one, passed away. The Chosen are meant to go on a journey to regenerate the world of its mana, but it hasn't been needed in several hundred years. So it's more of a fancy moniker than anything else, at this point.

[emberserker]

So you're supposed to bring back mana, but it's already there. If only all our worlds had no need for these things.

[pimpplan]

No kidding. It'd certainly would save a few headaches, at the very least.

[ To put it mildly. ]

I mean, this world doesn't seem to have anything like that, and it's doing fine. It'd be nice to not have to depend on it for the planet to not die off.

[emberserker]

So it's tied into the planet itself, then, for you?

[pimpplan]

Yeah, which is why the whole Chosen thing is so important. It's kind of the lifeblood of the planet; it lets things grow, lets those with elven blood use magic, that sort of thing.

[ He pauses. ] Wait, what does it mean for you, then?

[emberserker]

I simply thought it was the flow of magic. Where I'm from, that's blocked off by a seal. That's all.

[pimpplan]

Any particular reason?

[ is there an alternate world that is currently using all the mana until the seal gets released? just a random idea, haha ]

[emberserker]

A certain group of old mages decided that the world didn't need it anymore, and for those who disagree, we compete every generation for the right to become the one and only true mage. The old families have been fighting a thousand years to produce a Princeps Mage and have them restore magic to the world. No one's ever won yet, but I intend to be the first.
