WEEK 3

Well, the tail end of Week 2 could have gone better. That's the first thing to note.

The second thing is... hang on, should it be Week 3 yet? You've all gone to sleep (or... not, in the case of anyone who doesn't), but when you wake up (and you do all wake up), the calendar and clock on your device informs you that it's Sunday. In-character, all characters explicitly have absolutely no memory of Saturday.

Your sense of time isn't the only thing that's changed - a new branch of the facility has opened and become active overnight, giving you new resources and places to investigate, should you so choose. There's also a new channel on the television, though whether it's an improvement over the last one is questionable.

Otherwise, though, things have mostly settled into normalcy again, or at close to normal as you can find in this place. How long that peace will last, though... that's becoming increasingly uncertain, moving forward.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to Week 3! Turn in last week's AC over here, and regains remain over this way! And for the sake of consistency, Angel's office hours remain over yonder! ]

I did not wish Seteth to see it.

[She... can't really get out of this by just not saying anything. So she has to do her best.]

While we are close we have our differences in policies when it comes to the Church. If he knew I collected scripture pertaining to certain things it would lead to an argument and unnecessary strain.
philoxenia: (ain't it good to be on your own?)

[ Ahhh. It's a lot clearer now, and she nods. ]

Then I'll keep it secret. [ She doesn't want to be the cause of any strife between them, especially here. ] It's not my place to reveal that sort of thing, anyway... And if anyone should tell him about it, if you ever feel the need for him to know, it should be you.

I will tell him when the time comes but our current situation is not the right place.

[She'd rather not ever tell him but he does seem to like to sniff things out on his own. Still.] I suppose it comes down to that I tend to focus on the past a bit more than he.

philoxenia: (so what are you gonna do--)

[personal profile] philoxenia 2020-04-23 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand.

[ .... yeah, she can understand that too. ]

It's-- I do the same thing. It's hard to not think about what you've lost.

It is a natural thing, yes...

[Sigh.]

I was rather surprised that you realized it was mine so quickly.

Well... I figured it was either yours or Seteth's. Um, I did read a little bit of it, but once I saw "Seiros," I didn't think it was for my eyes.

I thought that might have been the case... as I said, it is the scripture where I learned of the Chalice of Beginnings.
philoxenia: (no more keepin score now; i just)

[personal profile] philoxenia 2020-04-24 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ She nods, and... well. ]

... Is it alright if I ask a question about something I saw on it?

[personal profile] archboxer 2020-04-24 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Of course.

[Oh no.]

[ Oh yes. ]

The, ah... the dragon?

[ What's that about! ]

[She blinks in confusion for a few moments.]

The...dragon?

[Ruh-oh. Except Rhea seems to calm down after a moment.]

Ah, yes--I suppose it might be confusing. That would be an old legend, older than even than the Church itself.
philoxenia: (all the time)

[personal profile] philoxenia 2020-04-24 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
A little.

[ A pause. ]

I'd be interested in hearing it, if you're inclined.

The Immaculate One was a guardian spirit of sorts that those before the church was founded believed in. Probably due to this belief of a guardian spirit, Saint Seiros was often associated with it in the early days of the Church. Her coffin even had images of a dragon carved into it.

[There's a sigh to her voice.]

Just an old holdover from a long gone era. A folktale.
philoxenia: (orbit around you)

[personal profile] philoxenia 2020-04-24 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Then it's more of a symbol than anything.

[ She at least seems to accept the explanation. ]

If it was a guardian spirit, it's no wonder it's drawn so incredibly on the scroll.

In older depictions of the saint, the Immaculate One is often portrayed more... likely as a short hand for her without using her image itself.

[She closes her eyes, as if trying to imagine the picture.]

The Four Apostles were banished for the aftermath of the failed ritual. I could understand that the creators of the scroll desired to show the seriousness of the event by using the Immaculate One.
